Why do I suddenly want to start reading JW literature and going to Kingdom Halls?
by yogosans14 inis good calling me back or am i just letting my emotions get the best of me?also i really want to be closer to my jw family.
btw i was never baptized and i consider myself a born again christian i go to a baptist church and wath televangelist and i have expirenced gods presence like never before but sometimes i get fearful and think "what if jws are right and i'm wrong" than i'm screwed!but if there wrong and i'm right it doesn't look to good for them.. i would prefer if nobody posted "god isn't real" type comments.
i truly believe he is real but i respect why some are atheists..

why report more partakers?
by rebel8 inof all the threads here about the number of partakers increasing, i don't recall theories as to why they report this.
they could stop reporting numbers altogether or lie.
instead they say, in essence, "our teachings about end times and heavenly hope are still wrong"..

It may now have become a control and/or persecution tactic.
Now that the # of partakers are actually increasing anyone who questions this is either a 'weak Witness' who needs shepherding or an apostate and is persecuting them.

Those darned apostates
by berrygerry injuly 15, 1992 wt.
"apostates capitalize on errors or seeming mistakes made by brothers who take the lead.
our safety lies in avoiding apostate propaganda as though it were poison, which in fact it is.".

"They doth protest too much methinks."
When claims made cannot hold up to scrutiny, when one tries, at every attempt, to quash inquiry, then there is something problematic with what is being presented.

so your Mom was ok with their deliberate move from just being ''imitating wannabees'' to a flully formed, legally recognised ''snare and racket'' of their own manufacture?Hey gone, I am not sure my Mom was ok with them declaring themselves as a religion due to their previous assertions that they were NOT a religion and therefore no part of 'Christendom'.
My Mom was very clear that JWs were a sect and NOT a religion. This was pre-1973 (before I was 10 years old). I believe I was questioning the JW stance that they weren't a religion. It looked and sounded like one to me.
Once Watchtower declared themselves a religion, my Mom said nothing. Neither did I as I was not one to introduce JWs and their crap as subject matter for discussion very often. I honestly think that my parents had their doubts but clung to the hope that their doubts were unfounded as many older JWs do.

[REPOST] Memorial Non-Attendance: The Single Most Impactful TTATT Witness to Family and Friends
by AMNESIANO in(originally posted march, 2014)anyone who has awakened to ttatt and has conscientiously left the organization--especially a once-prominent, highly-regarded, studious believer from a prominent multi-generational tribe of jws-- after decades of devout, high-profile "serve-us," who continues to put in an annual appearance at the memorial thoroughly subverts and undermines, by this one act, any hope s/he may entertain that his/her departure will stir family or former friends to question the whole watchtower bamboozle.
by this one concession s/he assigns him-/herself by every single jw to their handy and dimissive purgatory: the "spiritually-weak.".
nothing blasts a louder, clearer, and more deliberate message to the jws who personally knew you and those familiar with your jw bona fides that you are not merely "not making the meetings," "inactive," or "spiritually-weak," but that there is a conscientious reason you have rejected the entire watchtower society life than choosing to forego what they know you once believed to be jehovah's must-attend, one-and-only, holy/sacred event of the year for his people, the lord's evening meal.. you hand them the very justification they so relish to self-righteously label you as a "submarine witness" deserving of jehovah's, and more importantly, their judgement.

stanlivedeath said: why the use of the word "memorial" isnt this just watchtowerese ?
It's the JW word for 'funeral'. They 'flock' (ahem) annually to Jesus' funeral.
They gather on the wrong day to NOT do what Jesus supposedly instructed all Christians to do.
Hence, the moniker this event has been given it by the ex-JW community:
The Reject/Ignore Jesus Party.

Why does the Almighty need a mediator?
by economy ingod is alike to all of his children, hence cannot elevate one child above all others just because one was brought into existence before others.
(ezekiel 18:4) someone has to be first-born which does not give him any superiority over others!
interestingly, jesus simply dismissed the whole idea of one being placed over the others as pagan.

I am so done with Patriarchal belief systems. We no longer live in the Bronze or Iron Ages. -

The borrowed magic of the memorial
by Half banana inmyth comes from myth and ritual comes from ritual.
myth and ritual are borrowed in the way fire is borrowed to light another flame.
john 6:53 says that whoever does not eat (jesus) body and drink his blood will have no life in him.

JWs gather once a year on the wrong day to NOT do what Jesus supposedly instructed them to do.
As for the Christian faith, this sums it up pretty well: -

Back when Rutherfraud said this, JWs were considered a 'sect' and not a 'religion'.
My Mom was crystal clear with me on this fact.

Well, I do, of course. My levels of seratonin, endorphins, dopamine, and melatonin, to name a few, are all key factors in the functioning of my brain.
