i saw a programme on tv the other night that said the scientologists reported income dropped from multi-millions to about 300k after the change.. i wondered if anyone knew what happened to the watch tower society's reported income after the law change?.

I saw the same show on TV the other night too.. With all the pressure on the Government to bring to account cults/sects like JW who hide under the non-profit umbrella, it wont be too long before the tiget gets its teeth. An interesting point was made on that programme was that these cults would have to show what charity work they are involved with in the local community - get ready for the big speel on the public teaching work being carried out zealously by jw's......

As for NZ, maybe Black Sheep would know.....

i'm sure topics like this have already come up but they tend to get hilarious with the absolute absurdity that goes on in the kh.

i was once counseled for not shaving after two days.

i was also counseled by a sister for eating lucky charms cereal.

Man, could write a book, but my 3 fav:

1 - Pious Elder to me after a meeting walking to the Magazine counter to carry out my responsabilities " Br Mattieu, why do you have to smile so much, you should be more serious like Br So & So." Br so & so was the most serious fun hating person who had no friends. My crime? Smiling & being happy too much. I still shake my head thinking of that night....

2 - Wifey and I pioneering with 2 young children, stop for a moment to get some food out of the nappy bag to give to 8 month old baby, Br Elder High Priest and his trusty sidekick come running up to us "Can you please hurry up Br Mattieu, this is Jehovahs time, not family time."

3 - Going door to door during one hot Aussie summer after the Sunday morning meeting in a new congo. I am wearing a long sleave meeting shirt with the sleeve cuffs rolled up once. I get pulled aside by 1 Elder and am told to roll the sleeves down. I thought he was joking so laughed it off. He then said no, shirts are not worn like that in this congo, dont let Br Elder High Priest (see above) catch you like that. I still refused and was pulled aside next meeting for having a bad attitude.....

Hi WS,

I ask that every day when watching the news or learning of ones I know passing away. It used to bug me when I was in the borg and I would ask that question only to be told "you are lacking faith brother...."

But I suppose when you ask that question WS it means you care ;-)

first of all- a little history.

my ex-wife a fanatic jw seems to be in a pissing match ( not of my choosing ) with me over trying to get my son back into the jw cult.

he's 25, been out of the witnesses since 17 and he is very happy with his life .he has a great girlfriend, he enjoys gardening growing his own vegetables and he is a performing singer/guitarist now writing songs and performing in front of hundreds of people .

Glad to hear your son is in a happy place. My Brother tried using the guilt trip on me last time he saw me, saying "you are going to die at the Big A, your children may even die if you dont come back to the truth..." At this stage I stood up and called him a dickhead (at an ASSembly hall) and he hasnt spoken to me since as I am a bad association. I am not df'd, I am just inactive and dont go to meetings. Yet his super spiritual hypocritical wife has labeled me an apostate, so he cannot talk to me. But, oh, he and his fellow MS buddies can all send porno emails to each other...... Go figure...

my dad was/is very zealous about announcing his faith.

but he doesn't quite have the knack for it, or the tact.. case in point: when i was a kid, about 12 i think, him, my brother and i were walking into a department store when we encountered a lady out in front who was passing out leaflets for a political candidate.

it wasn't even a major election.

just got done reading a previous topic about elders monitoring this site...i have never heard of that!!!

does anyone know if it is just brooklyn elders that do this,,,or are other elders assigned throughout the country????

I know a few elders here in Oz that monitor this site, I actually saw this site up on a prominent elder's computer quite a few times....

why is it that the characters in the convention drama always have a kid called randy?

he is always the good kid in the illustration and the elders always address him with "hi randy" in cowboy film accent.. he in england randy has sexual connotations and means lustful or promiscuous.

are kids actually called randy in the us?.
