  do jws frequently report more time devoted to their ministry than actually spent perhaps for image reasons or to keep other people happy?.

  YES! It's all about keeping up appearances, I should know, I was guilty as charged officer.....

  We have a mix of rural and suburban territory ( I say we, though I no longer go), during Auxillary pioneer months, car loads will go from a suburban r/v to a rural one maybe 40 minutes away, loiter around, have a coffee then return to another suburban r/v then even back to a rural one, just for the sake of "putting in a big day for Jehovah".

  The last time I was an auxillary pioneer, I stopped going out halfway during the month and said to my wife how corrupt it is, I couldnt do it anymore as it wasn't heartfelt service.... Still put down the 50 hours on the report though....... From that time till I faded, I rarely put a report in even if I did go out. Putting in a report is such a wank.....

  I need proof for my wife that NW Translation is not correct

  please help, i need a reason for my wife to start reading other translation.

  i want to start chronological reading of nt with her, to show her wtbs is not a mediator for us.. thanks.

  Hey, while all you scholars (written respectfully) are all on this thread, could you help me out with the NWT of the scripture where Jesus promised the criminal on his deathbed that he would be with him in paradise???

  I too need proof for wifey that the NWT translation is incorrect on this one.

  From 'Everlasting Life' to just a few more years. How did you handle the realisation that you WOULD die?

  the thing is, a lot of us thought we'd never die.

  do you comprehend what a truly massive mind-fuck that is?

  when i was embroiled in doubts and knew i was heading 'out of the truth' i remember waves of nausea hitting me.

  As a born in and growing up with the promise of living forever and that I would never finish school/get a job/become a man/get married/have children and so on.......... it has left me feeling flat and disillusioned too. I turned 40 earlier this year and now find myself in the 40-50 age bracket when filling out forms! How depressing (no offense to anyone in the 50+ age braket, really!!)

  It's just that it wasn't supposed to go on this long, they promised! When I started my fade, wifey began saying I am going to die at the Big A (guilt trip thing), I said no, I am going to die in this system, like my children will and the next 10 generations will.

  Now though, I amstarting to deal with reality, soometing they never taught me growing up (hmm, that may explain my sense of humour)

  anyone have any "favourites" from amongst the many flashes of light from the org.?

  i've chosen this one........rev 14 : 20 this apparently referred to the publishing of the finished mystery book and foretold that the 1600 furlongs represented the distance from where it was written (scranton, pennsylvania), to where it was published (wt headquarters in brooklyn, ny)...provided you travelled by way of the lackawana railroad and hobo ken's ferry.

  Riiiiiight, ok, no ok. Truthsetsonefree, dont take it personal that I am still laughing, oh god, oops, blasphemy. ok, just because i'm Australian doesn't mean I'm guliible!! Ok, juts re-read your post and started laughing again! Oh, I though I had heard it all.

  Right TSOF - It's 12:16pm on a sunny/cloudy Saturday afternoon in Melbourne.I am heading home from work in about an hour and will check for myself once I dig out the book in the garage, it could be a little dusty. I probably can not log in at home (wifey does not know I look at this site let alone am a registered user now!)

  But when I find it, I am sure you will hear me laughing all te way to NY.

  How do you feel when you see groups of Jehovah's Witnesses in the ministry?

  regret, anger, frustration?

  how about sadness, sorrow, sympathy, understanding, even compassion!.

  it can be quite confusing at times, especially if some of those witnesses were your friends.

  Like chikpea, I feel relief that I am not a part of it anymore and that my children do not have to do it anymore. I travel a bit on the road, yet hardly see them anymore, numbers are down a lot here in Australia as well. I wouldnt say I feel anger when I see them out, just frustration, frustration that I devoted so much of my life to it and frustration for those I see in the field (they certainly do not have the kingdom smile any more on their face, just a blank "I don't want to be here" look)

  Everytime I ring my broither who is still in it, he is always under pressure, (they just made him a M/S a year ago), he is trying to run his own business, support his wife n kids, yet he is under constant pressure to "take the lead", "reach out", "be seen in the ministry" "do more" "support the weekend f/s groups".

  I remember that pressure and hated it....

  Another thread touched on this a couple of days ago and I had k/melodies in my head all day and actually dreamt of singing them at an ASSembly that night! I looked at a songbook yesterday and read some of the words, for the first time I read them and thought of all the singing over the years and realised that it is all part of mind control/cultish.

  Hi Iknowall588, lol, did you make the rev 14:20 application up yourself? If that is true that they at one time taught that, could you please please provide me with the ref details? I would delight to show wifey that one....

  As for other flashes of light, I am still getting over the 1914 generation flip flops and 1935 sealing change of mind........

  What Did You Do With All Your Watchtower Publications?

  i needed room when i moved so i sadly threw my entire library away.

  i mentioned this to an exjw.

  he and his wife took all the hundreds of books, including bound volumes from the 1800s and are now using them for research and proof of watchtower lies.. what did you do with your books?.

  I still have my collection of the past 40 years and have inherited from the oldies who passed away over the years a very extensive collection that I am sure the society would like to disown now. They are all packed away in storage. Its funny, in my lurking days (about 18 months ago) I printed off a pdf from this board and showed it to my wife, the article was about the end of the preaching work being finished by the end of the 20th century.

  She said it could have been doctored, so now whenever I present and article from time to time (very subtle) I like to go into our garage and dig up the actual publication. It's a good thing wifey did not believe in getting the bound volumes ( I did) she preferred to keep the originals and bind them herself to save the society moolah.

  Elder Stranded at Airport after Week-long Elders' School

  a lady that comes to our ex-jw meetup is a df'ed jw and still has some contact with her jw parents.

  anyway, her father went to the week-long elders school in patterson, ny and they dropped him and a bunch of other elders off at laguardia airport.

  the ny jw's were done with them.. .

  I dont want to get all spiritual here, though didnt Jesus say "how you treated one of my brothers is how you treated me?" Someone should ring NY bethel and tell them their expected plans/hopes have been put on "standby", so take a seat as there is going to be some turbulence ahead........

  JW grandma, unbelieving grandpa and DF'd daughter - babysitting rules

  the grandma just got some instructions from one of the elders on how to handle babysitting her infant grandchild.

  when the daughter brings the baby to the house, she should hand it to the grandpa.

  (that's ok because grandpa has never been baptized).

  Someone with no knowledge of the borg who may read that account and think it to weird to be true. Sadly, I know of too many extreme examples like that.... Control = Cult.

  I have just spent an hour with a friend this morning, who faded a long time ago yet still feeling the emotional damage of family in/out. That elder mentioned above needs a good dose of reality.
