Does that mean one can get df'd for singing the YMCA song or just a private reproof? What about If I sang the song and did the dance spelling out YMCA, surely a sign of an apostate.... Man those Village People rock.....

More Bad News
by Decided inanother one of my second cousins killed himself today.
he was 42 and still a jw.
he called 911 and shot himself while talking to them.

Hi Ken, so sorry to hear the bad news, thinking of you buddy.
In regards to
Is this common in todays congregations? No one knows why he did this.
I only know of 2 brothers who sadly did commit suicide, one of them would be the last person you would pick. He was in my pioneer school and the last time I saw him was at the Sunday meeting, he was an MS, answering up, doing mike duty, looked very happy. Yet was suffering from depression as most JW's do.
There was also a spate of suicides amongst jw's back in the late 80's in Sydney including one at Bethel, though I do not know of the facts. I think it would definitely help you personally to go to the Memorial. Stay safe. Mattieu.

Debunking the "great crowd" of "other sheep" concept - new video

A@G, I enjoyed that immensely as I had my morning coffee break, keep up the good work. I only hope that active JW's get to watch that video and more..
PS - As you invited us to open our Bibles to Revelation, did that bring back memories of speaking from the platform? I marked you as a "G" overall, with an "I" for use of camera and a "W" for personal grooming. Now that brings back memories....

What Was The Very First Thing That Came Across Your Eyes That Lead You Down The Road To Doubt?
by Yizuman inany of you remember what was exactly the first thing that crossed your eyeballs to lead you into doubting the wts?.
-
Mattieu
I supressed to many matters for too long a time, so once I started digging the floodgates opened up, my experiences/doubts and memories as a young child (born in) to a grown man with young children all came back and thus began the fade.....
Thanks to the JWD site and Lady Lee's best of, I got to research my major concerns: the understanding of 1914 generation/blood issues/UN and organisation structure. I am still learning new things every day which convince me more and more that I am on the right path. Though like an earlier poster mentioned, I too look into my childs eyes and know now that in an medical emergency I would not refuse a blood transfusion for my children, yet 10 years ago I would have taken a stand.
The internet has let a lot of us research our "doubts" and make up our own minds and not some committee... Mattieu

Going out on Christmas day or any other public holiday. Knowing that people were sleeping in and just wanted to relax and then we turn up (we should have been sleeping in as well)
I suffered from fear of man pretty bad as a teenager and my bookstudy conductor knew that. He used to make me do homes on the main roads so that I would get seen more by schoolfriends/public (thinking this would help overcome my fear of man)
It didnt work......... hated it, yet pioneered and hated going door to door even when at my peak, go figure.

Anyone Have Any good Or Weird Home Book Study Stories?
by Tired of the Hypocrisy ini have a lot of them but this one my wife told me takes the cake!.
my wife was about 15 yrs old and was attending the bookstudy at this sister's house.
the sister's hubby was a non-believer but her daughter was a jw and was married to my wife's uncle who was also a jw.

We used to have the book study at our house too. In winter we had the open fire place roaring which was great in helping some of us get to sleep during the revelation book. The wood always used to crackle and pop, but one night there was a really loud bang as the wood combusted, the conductors wife screamed out shit! ( Am I allowed to type that? Sorry, if I couldn’t)
Another time, the brother who was giving the final prayer was struggling as English was not his native tongue, he got all flustered and finished off the prayer in his own language. By the time he said Amen, the conductor and everyone else was snotting themselves laughing. At least he had a good sense of humour about it!

Anyone from Sweden here?
by AlexHall inhi.. im new to the posting-part of this forum and was wondering if there s any other ex-witnesses from sweden in here?.
i v been reading a lot of the topics here and i have to admit it have helped me to start seeing the bigger picture.

Not I, though I have Swedish friends here in Australia. I can certainly relate to your experience, nice to have you here, Mattieu.

Have You Ever Walked Out Of a KH "Meeting"?
by african GB Member indid you have enough of boasting, and decided to walk out?.
that's what happened to me during this week's bs about how to "treat the disfellowshipped"?.
i just picked up my bag and stormed out...... will i get called into the back room?.

Once when a public marking talk got personal and vindictive (lucky we were taping it at the sound booth) a few of walked out, caused a bit of a scene.
Another time when we heard a sister screaming out the front car park, us attendants ran out to find her husband dead of a heart attack.
On many many a time….. To check the football scores!
At many a district convention to go for walk and get a decent coffee….. Mattieu
