What If The Bible Had Never Existed???
by ziddina ini'm thinking way outside the box here.... i looked up my thread title before starting this thread and guess what??.
no one appears to have ever considered this question before.... i've seen far, far, far too many people of european/british isles/african/american extraction defending this regional middle-eastern 'god', without realizing that their ancestors would never have willingly consented to give up their own deities to worship this interloper thrust upon them, usually at the point of a roman sword... or occasionally for trading advantages, as in the case of many of the heathen viking - norsemen.... so.
what if the bible had never existed?.

Zid has to say "goodbye"... For now...
by ziddina inmy computer-support service has checked my computer because it's been rather "glitchy" lately, and the hard drive is failing.... so, i'll end up being cut-off from the board, for a while.... some of you have my personal phone number, if you need to get in touch.... **********************************************************************.
here's something else that's been bothering me.... we're going to fly out to see the in-laws soon - and i'm very uneasy about flying.... if something should happen to me, could you people please help find good homes for my animals???
they are all indoors animals, have been spayed/neutered, and are pretty good with dogs.... there are six cats - the seventh one, minx, will have to be "put down", as she is slowly dying of feline leukemia, and is far too "high-maintenance" for anyone else to care for.... but there's chomper - a neutered male, six-toed cat, somewhat feral but ferociously loyal to anyone who will be patient with him - and feed him wet food... he's a big, short-haired grey-and-black tabby... unfortunately, in the process of the hard-drive decay, my computer no longer recognizes my crappy printer, and so i can't load a pix of chomper... but he's a big cutie!!.

How Science has advanced since the Victorian Era...
by ziddina inbuttonhooks, steam-run horseless carriages, corsets, steamships, gaslight streetlights, wax candles..... these things were considered the 'latest' in "modern conveniences" during the victorian era.. the victorian era also ushered in some exciting new scientific discoveries and inventions - uranium, x-rays, electric telegraphs, bicycles, and a good part of the industrial revolution.. of course, nowadays we wouldn't dream of using buttonhooks to 'button up' our shoes, nor would we even consider having a steam-powered "horseless carriage" in our garage.. we wouldn't allow a dentist to work on us using 19th-century tools or techniques, nor would we trust a psychologist who insisted on using "phrenology" to determine why we have mood swings or depressions....

Yurts - Relatively Safe Housing for Earthquake-Prone Areas???
by ziddina ini've always had a fascination for yurts... and i've been wondering - wouldn't these make wonderful homes for earthquake-prone areas with a relatively mild climate?.
[and the board is acting funny again... hope these pictures post...] .
notice the lightweight wooden framework.
