Is the GT/Armageddon coming tonight?
by Hikaru inyeah it's me again... watching the news then reading peoples posts here and other sites... i've become completely freaked once again.
i can't even sleep tonight.. i'm so worried.... what have people been saying?
do the higher ups think?

Well, the night has come and gone & it looks like armageddon hasn't hit... Hold on though... Show of hands... Who is still here?
Sorry for the sarcasm...
Until I invited a pioneer for bible study, I had no idea of how harmful this religion is... In my estimation, there is something inherently wrong with encouraging belief in "end times"... What is the benefit to the people who believe it?? They either live in constant fear that they haven't been good enough to survive, or they've got cognitive dissonance and have convinced themselves that the slaughter of billions of people is somehow warranted...
Hikaru, I apologise for the disrespect, but you've got to wake up... Get counselling. Turn off Fox news because it's Rupert Murdoch's personal crusade against democracy and is totally lacking in ethical, impartial news. Live your life, take pleasure in the world you live in, quit living in fear.
I seldom make my opinion known because I believe that people have the right to believe what they want so long as no one is hurt because of those beliefs. Having said that, your beliefs are hurting you, and I cannot remain silent.
To those of you who still believe that this is the "truth"... Look at what it has done to this poor girl & ask yourself if it is right to encourage this kind of thinking.

close-minded religious people should save their money and not go see this movie but instead give your money to the next tv evangelist or street magician you see.

I saw it this evening... I thoroughly enjoyed it... Having said that, I didn't used to like Bill Maher, but over the last four months I've kind of awakened from the cognitive dissonance I had which didn't allow me to address my doubts while still believing in the divinity of the bible.

Hand of the Almighty
by megs ini won't post the link because it contains profanity... but, if you are agnostic or atheist, you might find the video "hand of the almighty" by john r. butler on you tube, pretty darn funny... here are the lyrics, sanitized for the protection of the innocent by replacing the offending words with cluck and spit respectively:.
oh sinner, do no stray .
from the straight and narrow way .

Here are the lyrics, sanitized for the protection of the innocent by replacing the offending words with cluck and spit respectively:
Oh sinner, do no stray
From the straight and narrow way
For the Lord is surely watching what you do
If you approach the Devil's den
Turn 'round, don't enter in
Lest the hand of The Almighty fall on you
He'll cluck you up (He'll cluck you up)
Yes, God will cluck you up
If you dare to disobey His stern command
He'll cluck you up (He'll cluck you up)
Don't you know He'll cluck you up
So you better do some prayin' while you can
Long ago a man named Lot
Had a wife he thought was hot
But she could not stop her black and sinful ways
You know it was her own damn fault
When God turned that b**** to salt
That's the way He used to work back in those days
He clucked 'em up (He'll cluck you up)
He really clucked'em up
When the people went and turned their backs on Him
He can cluck you up (He'll cluck you up)
No spit He'll cluck you up
Just like He clucked the people up back then
I used to have a friend named Ray
Who walked that evil way
He cursed and drank and broke his neighbor's fence
You know Ray was full aware
That some sheep were over there
And he knew them in the biblical sense
God clucked him up (He clucked him up)
He went and clucked Ray up
Went and paid him back for all his wicked sins
He clucked him up (He clucked him up)
Clucked that boy completely up
Now he's married to a Presbyterian -

To be honest... If you look at the last 2,000 years of history, you can find signs in each generation that the end is near. However it hasn't come yet. It's like preparing for a winter storm... If you live in a cold climate in the country, you keep a stash of food, warm clothes, matches etc. prepared... But you don't spend your day staring at the sky for snow, you just remain prepared so that if the storm comes, you're not caught by surprise. The Bible tells us no human being knows when the end will come, so one can be prepared spiritually, yet not continually look for signs... I hope that makes some sort of sense!

Hi Hikaru, If I were you, I wouldn't look for signs that the end is here, the Bible tell us that no man knows, and we shouldn't listen to those who prophesize that the end is nere...
Jeremiah 23:16 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.
Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Believing in God gives meaning in what (often) seems like a futile existence. If you believe in God, you can convince yourself that things will indeed get better, that the whole drudgery of life will be made worthwhile in an idyllic afterlife.
