We are having the memorial after another congregation and it would be too late to got out. Usually, if it is earlier, we go with friends for dinner or drinks, but Monday i am not sure who wants to go?

What usually happens after the memorial?
by Frazzled UBM indo members of the congregation usually have a meal together after the memorial?
does the fact that my wife has decided not to travel across town to her filipino congregation and is going to the local one instead and wants to be picked up when it finishes at 8 pm mean that she hasn't been invited to a meal with her filipino congregation and that she is being socially excluded by them?
i think this is good news but i don't want her to get caught up with the local congregatin because i don't want them coming around to pressure her to attend when she is irregular.

Anyone Here Used to Fear Persecution?
by kneehighmiah ini was thinking today about how i no longer have to fear the attack of satan against the jws.
i used to fear being rounded up and beaten by mobs.
seeing my family tortured.

I used to have from people outside the organisation. But not anymore. Since I had to serve 18 months in prison for refusing to serve in the military, after that what worse can happen - this time killed me emotionally.
As for being afraid someone shouting at me in the ministry, I barely go and when I have to, I barely speak and go with friends whom don’t bother talking at doors - just give magazines and get out!
My only fear now is using my family against me - persecution within the organisation!

"This Generation" at the meeting today
by Batman89 init was really quite amusing 2day at the meeting when we got to the "this generation will not pass away" subheading in the wt.
the conductor spent very little time on the section and the comments that were given didnt at all make sense really.
you can tell its not understood by the majority of the friendsand will go over there heads, i was trying not to laugh lol.

I was reading the WT in my congregation and had to zoom through the paragraphs - surprisingly all 3 were grouped together with one question. It was really hard not to shake my head with disapproval while reading them - hope no one noticed!
The interesting part, no elders commented on it and left it for the R&F to come up with their own understandings, which basically showed how no one had an idea what was written. Then the conductors took 2 answers and moved on.
One of the comments referred to how the end of times is much nearer by this new Light - seriously how did they see that? Some people need to go back to school to learn basic calculations!

Since I live outside of my congregation territory, I always try to open deep discussions with the JWs that knock on my door on Saturdays, then after 30 minutes and when I see they are struggling I tell them I am a fellow JW from another congregation that was testing them!
You should see their faces! Some smile and some get really upset that I wasted their time. The interesting thing, none has any deep understanding of the beliefs and most cannot defend using the bible only, they have to go and do some research!
Remember old times when I was a teenager and was supposed to memorise all conversation stoppers and use the bible to defend our beliefs - good old times!

Pre-Memorial territory coverage
by Blackbird Fly inhas anyone else seen the local congregation doing the usual field service push before the memorial?
i think its strange that we (nor our neighbors) havent seen them in the neighborhood yet.
only 2 weeks away and no territory blast?
-

In our congregation the push is left for the last 2 weeks, i.e starting from this week we will start leaving invites at not at homes.
Additional motivation to the brothers and sisters is that they have to report how many invites they have placed, i wonder if they will disclose how many invites were disributed in our congregation to compare with the actual amount received - that will be funny if congreagtion distributed 10,000 and we only got 8,000 invites in total .

In my own experience when all your family (i mean 100%) is part of it it is extremely hard to cut off your ties - its like losing the whole world.
Plus thinking of the emotional impact on both parties - due to my love of my family i am willing to sacrifice!
I think there lots of people in the same situation - moving on means a major loss.

When do Auxilliary CO's go out in field service?
by Quarterback ini moved into this new cong for over two years now.
we have this younger couple that are part time co's.
i know that they would be busy serving a cong when they are asked to do so, but that is not too often.

I have seen several couples and families doing the same thing. They don’t even join other groups. When they show up in the FS group they go together and say they have special arrangement so that no one goes with them. And at the meeting they will refer to this special arrangement as a special RV. The interesting part we never saw them bring anyone new to the meeting even though they have several bible studies with student fighting to be part of the WTS.
Shows how fake the annual figures published by WTS - wonder the percentage of JWs doing so and how this skews the stats.
