Just about had it with Microsoft... thinking about converting to Apple!!!

I feel the need to chime in that I'm not much of a MAC guy, but I'm the very proud owner of an iPhone, and holy shit, if you don't have an iPhone you are a steaming, drooling, fumbling moron. The iPhone makes me suspect there may be a god out there afterall. Its that awesome.

I don't think I'll ever switch to the MAC OS for my computing. Apple's philosophy to keep things simple and easy to use might be the way to go for your mobile device, but I like the freedom to do "anything" with my desktop, even if there are some hassles involved. There are things you just can't do with a MAC.

t reputable charities don't restrict access to their content - rather they encourage it.

YahooGroups has an email Listserve component to it. I'm guessing they screen every email that gets sent to the ListServe (before it goes to the group). They keep the option to boot so they can reduce the amount of Apostate spam. They also probably don't want to be referenced on sites like this one, just to avoid association with the enemy. This is probably the only reason they canned the account when someone posted the username and password here.

oftentimes the accusation is made that there is some sort of conspiracy on jwd amongst the atheists to convert, humiliate, spit on, or otherwise degrade the believers.

it's been suggested that their tone is condescending and arrogant.. it's hinted at that they're angry and bitter about their own lives and want to take it out on god and his humble servants.. others think it's all just an excuse to lead what they judge to be a morally depraved life.. regardless of what we believe about god's existence or lack thereof, most rational adults understand that when we attempt to judge the motives of others we can miss by a mile.. so here's the reason i post about the topic of atheism.... i was born as one of jehovah's witnesses, fourth generation.

i was being indoctrinated with jehovah while i was still in the womb.

I've often come around to the same idea, when thinking about the question of Athiesm vs Agnosticism vs some form of Theistic belief.

We need to ask ourselves:

Are we asking what is best? or are we asking what is TRUE? There is no guarantee that Truth will make you happy, guide you in your life decisions, cause you to be surrounded by a loving community or ANYTHING else.

I am mostly interested in truth. If we are asking what is TRUE, I have the one true religion. Everyone be an Agnostic and come look for what insight can be scraped together with me. We are the only mindset which for sure is not factually incorrect in our religious views. I don't think of myself as much different than an "Athiest", but there is a subtle difference in my perspective that I think is important. The "QUESTION" is extremely real, Athiests tend to focus on how religious people are deluded (as they obviously are). There is more to it than that, the question is real, it is the answers that are fake. This leaves the question of what is the "truth". I really do not think "there is no god" is a very satisfying conclusion to the question any more than "I'm a moron that believes everything I'm told about god, and it works as long as I don't think". To recognize the immensity of the predicament we mortals find ourselves in is the greatest intellectual pleasure I've ever experienced. Knowing how little you know about what you are is perhaps the deepest spiritual awakening I can imagine.

If you're asking what is BEST, well that's much more complicated. Certainly Athiestic perspective unleashed against the abuses of religion is extremely useful. Athiesm is a nice dressing down of people who otherwise would be dangerous. Athiests are the whistleblowers on religion. Religion/belief also has the various social and personal benefits that everyone is aware of.

I dont' think providence comes from being deluded, or being disillusioned or any balance therebetween. There is something else to find. Before I die, I'll find it and write a book about it.

Interesting conversation.. I think JWs will have plenty to think about as the number of anointed grows to above 10,000 and keeps on growing. Heck, everyones anointed now...
At least now there's anointed hope for others...

If my study of Apostate literature serves me, I believe the whole creation of the "Gread Crowd" arose from the crisis of JW's membership exceeding 100,000 people. They needed a place to stick the rest of the morons. Am I right? (I haven't been an apostate very long, just getting into the swing of things, I don't want to be "that guy" that gives the jabbering classes of dubs something to reinforce their delusions "Apostates are liars" Squak) Bring_the_Light

I'm pretty sure I'm smarter than most people. There is a small segment of the population which I am equally smart as. There is nobody smarter. I swear to the great spaghetti monster in the sky that I'm a very down to earth and unassuming person, but from time to time I get myself into trouble in being perceived as a snob, because I can't let go when those around me don't have the whole picture. I then try to paint the whole picture for them, which some (less smart people) take as an attack on the fact they aren't very smart.

People should just try to appreciate that I'm TRYING to help them.

CO Visit: Why Such A Big Deal?

i wasn't raised a jw, but my wife was and everytime the co makes a visit to our congregation for a week - we had to make sure nothing was going to interrupt our meeting attendance.

Its just like an inspecting by a commanding officer in the Army. No reason for it, but you better be on your toes or else the whole unit looks like crap.

they are all over me with all of these "end of this system of things" signs......earthquakes, cyclones, pestilences, cost of food to lead to food shortages, blah, blah, blah....did they make an announcement at the kh that "this is it!!

If some one ask a question they cant answer. The person asking that question is a bad person.

Better than that, the person is under the control of Satan and is trying to "trick" the JW into leaving the flock. ANYTHING that would lead to them leaving the flock is a trick by Satan himself. Satan is very tricky, so he may very well be able to create the illusion that the Borganization is wrong about something, but we know that anything that makes it look like people don't need the Borganization is a trick by Satan. So ACTUALLY the more evidence looks like the Borganization is wrong, the more we are sure that Satan is after us because the Armageddon is SOO near. Satan will get more and more tricky as the time grows closer, so we need to believe even more blindly than ever in order to survive. Oh.my.spaghettimonster!!! I can feel my forehead heat up as I try to think about the mental lives of Jehovah's Witnesses. Bring_the_Light

I'm sick of my instructor so much I want to quit college!!!!

i'm not gonna quit, though i have the strong desire to do so.

we're in week 7 and my grade sucks in this class.

i understand most of it but he is so picky that no matter how well written there is always so many points taken off.
