Felt bad that I can't think of anything dumb that would be entertaining.

What is the dumbest thing you ever did?
by John Doe inthis may not be my dumbest moment, but i'm sure it ranks pretty high.
when i was a young kid, we had a swimming pool.
i used to swim just about every day after school.

Our CO gave a talk to kids. Stay OUT of school!
by easyreader1970 inhe wanted to talk to the young ones in the congregation.
the main theme of the talk had to do with avoiding higher education.
basically the main idea was this: witnesses are losing alot of young people here in the last few years.

I wonder what a talk would sound like using the same logic having to do with eating food.
AVOIDING ADDICTIVE FOOD
"We all know that going to the grocery store can lead to unhealthy habits and unnecessary association with worldly minded people who do not appreciate Jehovah's principles when it comes to gluttony which is promoted everywhere in the aisles of worldly grocery stores along with materialism at the larger chains. The thing to do is to be like Noah who planted his own vineyard. For those who live in apartments one can grow much food in what's called "container gardening." By being thrifty you can perhaps become a healthier one income family, thus making more time available for declaring the good news in field service. And there's the added benefit of learning more about Jehovah's herbal creations that will make you self-sufficient when the grocery store shelves become empty when Jehovah destroys all the non-witnesses during Armageddon."Nice.

Pop Psychology - warning
by Uzzah infor the past few months i have found myself biting my tongue at what i have been observing with some participants on jwd.
please keep in mind i have been around since noah on these boards (circa 1997) and have watched several trends and people come and go over the years.. i am not seeking approval, support or anything other than expressing a personal observation.. every once in a while an egoist appears on the ex-jw boards.
more often than not a former elder who feels they continue to hold some sort of special wisdom that they must proclaim to the masses.

We're all adults here and we are responsible for advice we seek or advice we apply.
I doubt that. I'm willing to bet every witness kid between 9 and 17 is reading this right now, with their Internet Options open and the quickkey (if there is one) for delete cookies, internet files, and history under their fingers. Probably have a selection from xtube.com playing in another window........ When I got ahold of internet access, I wanted to see EVERYTHING, and my gosh I did.
Eat your fruit (apple) kids, it will help you grow up big, strong and ... sane.

When i was in college I picked female roomates 3 different times, all platonic, no hanky-panky, just decided the best available roomates happened to be female.
I wondered....
1. Because it seems naughty (JW upbringing?) not really.
2. Because girls are cleaner than boys? Anyone that believes that has not lived with college girls.
... yada yada.
Then I realized it................ I really enjoyed the smell of wet girl in the morning. *giggity* Someone needs to sell a colongne, seriously.

Basically the main idea was this: Witnesses are losing alot of young people here in the last few years. [I am glad he at least admitted to something everybody already knows.] The reason young people are leaving is not immorality but higher education.
Wow, that is 100% true.
Why? [Here is where he toys with the mind.] Because higher education is nothing but a chase after riches and you will end up stabbing yourself with many pains.
Wow, that's mostly true.
Also, your career will take up your time and your mind, which you should be devoting to Jehovah.
Well, he's still at 2 out of 3 at this point. Not too shabby, imperfect human and all that.
Jehovah's people need jobs that they don't have to think about after they leave for the day [yes, he actually said that].
Well ya know, while I don't agree with the premise, I sometimes wish I had a braindead job where the issues get solved on time, just like a Sitcom. We'll give him 1/2 credit for having a point about "the kind of job" you get with an education. so we're at 2.5 out of 4. Still a C Average.
He did NOT say that college or university often encourages people to think for themselves and to do independent research and not to just take a source's word for something.
Oooh, failure to state the obvious voids all points earned, which makes it a COMPLETE lie.

Thank you, Watchtower, Bible and Tract Society!
by David_R ini wanted to say thank you to the wbts for enforcing a 'no-contact' rule on all those that have left the organization.. only by experiencing first-hand my former best-friends treating me like a complete stranger (see 'garbage') for standing up for my own beliefs was i finally able to tell the society 'good-bye' forever and not feel guilty about it.. i know this was not the wbts's intention from the alienation practice.
it's intention was to make me feel guilty and lonely enough to come back to them.
however, it has backfired on them and finally given me my freedom.. thank you, society, for lacking kindness and understanding.

Hi Bring_The_Light
Did you think about finding a congregation where know one knows you and pretend that you're some average joe off the street? Ask them questions about their beliefs that way, or even ask for a bible study?Yes, in fact when I can free up a little time, I'm actually going to do that. BUT (<--- Big Butt) I'm NOT going to lie or be deceptive in any way whatsoever. There will be no "Apostate attack" launched. I'm where I am specifically because I am a truth teller down to my soul. I am not a Jehovah's Witness specifically because I am not a liar. I won't start now, and I feel compelled to carry the flag of the non-believer with honor, give a "good witness" to the Light, if you will. My main issue with the organization is that they would label me to be a bad man, the anger comes from the fact that I am not. Bring_the_Light

So that is the starting point, which was 607 BC, when Jerusalem fell to Babylon.
Rut-row!
BFD
What? so there's a little controversy about 607 BC, we don't need to worry about that because 1914 is ALSO completely verified by a simple inspection of the dimensions of the Great Pyramid. It has been verified by MULTIPLE sources, (actual 607 historical event, GB says so, and Great Pyramid, thats 3 independant sources, folks, bulletproof) so, as you can see, there is no reason to doubt it.
.... and besides Jehovah's spirit directed organization wouldn't get it wrong anyhoo.
(almost died laughing when I excitedly started scrolling down to respond and was confronted by an open can of worms! Nice placement of graphic )

It just defies what is reasonable and what is good.
Well, if you really think about it, if the God of the Bible exists, he most probably is a pretty major asshole viewed though our imperfect eyes. "Smoking some kids 'cause their mommy and daddy need to get smoked? - kinda asshole?, all things considered, it isn't much of a stretch......
As a pretty deep Agnostic, one of my issues is what happens if god exists, and I just don't fucking like him? THEN we'd be pretty happy to let the Athiests have their way. There are worse things than not knowing.
