  what rebellious actions did you or other do in your congregation, not enough to be disfellowshipped, but went a little too far.

  sometimes we have to unwind .

  i remember sitting in a brothers car.

  My baptized son married an "unbaptized publisher" (raised in the "truth") and all hell broke loose. My son was "marked" without any counsel from the elders. The wedding shower was boycotted by all wives of MS's and Elders and their friends. The "marking" talk was given the week before the wedding in two local congregations and people were told not to attend...in so many words. Yup. The loving, kind, Christian congregation.

  Though this still burns me up...I also can be happy that it was the event that propelled us out of the org.

  What book or movie most resembles the WTS in your opinion? Why?

  i've seen where some former jws compare the wts to certain movies or books (such as the village and 1984).

  i just wondered what movies or books reminded you of the wts and why?

  did you draw this conclusion before or after you left the organization?

  Those Star Trek shows with the Borg. I can't think of anything that resembles the Watchtower Society more than that Borg.

  yesterday something happened that really pissed me off.

  i was walking out of a store that has two doors you have to walk through... the inner door and the outer door.

  basically a small foyer.. as i'm going through the inner door i notice a woman is behind be so i go on through and hold the door for her... she went right on through without a word and then went through the outer door, pushed it open and then let it fly back into my face.

  Always hold doors open for people...men, women, children. Always say thank you when someone opens a door for you. AND...when someone walks thru the door that you so graciously held open for them and does not acknowledge it...I always say, as loud as I can..."YOUR WELCOME". (Well...except for really, really old people who probably are just senile).

  Yo sparky...I think I'm related to some of those people! Brookie (daughter-in-law), devonsmom (my niece), little Jack (grandson). Oh I recognize so many but my limited brain functions can't name them all. But they're all in my heart.

  Tour de France winner bucked his religion

  landis' mennonite hometown celebrates'we are disappointed with the lifestyle he lives, but i love him,' one says.

  farmersville, pa. - as floyd landis crossed the tour de france finish line sunday, his devout mennonite parents were riding their own bicycles home from church.. paul and arlene landis were so confident their son would win the cyclings greatest race they didnt have to choose between going to church and watching it on tv at a neighbors house.. im glad we didnt have to make that choice.

  church is very important to us, arlene landis said.

  They may not like it...but they certainly don't sound adverse to celebrating their son's accomplishment. There was a piece on them on the national news showing them bicycling over to a friends house to watch the tour on their neighbor's t.v. So it is obvious that they do not participate in shunning...even though he chose to leave his religion.

  I LOVE the tour...even without King Lance (and his ego)...looking forward to next year with the return of the banished "drug scandal" riders.

  Yeah...gotta love that Floyd. Won the tour even with a rotting hip.

  as a teenager, what was your favorite band?

  this band can be a local, main stream etc..... my favorite local band was little blue crunchy things, they were from milwaukee, wi.

  Were YOU Depressed When You Were A Witness?

  i've seen soooo many witnesses taking meds or alcohol because of unhappiness and depression.

  i know of one woman who regularly gos to her shrink and is the most depressed person that i know of.

  personally, i believe it's because a jw can never do enough to satisfy god or the elders....what do you think?

  I was BORN depressed. It's a family thing. But being a JW certainly didn't do it any good. I had a nervous breakdown as a teenager and take me to a shrink or put me in the hospital??? HEAVEN AND THE WATCHTOWER FORBID!!!

  Have been on meds for the last 15 years or so...leaving the JW's helped somewhat...but I think chronic depression is always there...lurking, lurking, lurking...no matter what circumstances you find yourself in. I can't say anymore...this subject is too damn depressing.
