What are your thoughts on Animal testing?

i just watched the netflix movie the animal people.

although i don't really agree in general with any eco or the like terrorists, watching the hidden cam video of the way these animals were treated was just sick.

anyone see this or the like movies?.

The movie you mention is on Netflix, and I watched it tonight.

Being a Humane Investigator, I deal with abusers quite often. (Dogs, cats, horses, cows, sheep and pigs) This show in my opinion was based on young adults not thinking, and then suddenly acting like rational adults in order to promote their viewpoint.

If you are against abuse of any kind, be civil in your protest / complaints. Threatening people, and families, causing property damage, and acting like the silent Nazi arm of the peta organization turns people off. I totally agree with the protestors anger toward animal abuse, but their methods of accomplishing their mission turned me off right away.

What SHOULD have woken you up ?

for myself, there is an embarrassingly long list of things that really should really have woken me up, fully.

it was a long process for me, as a mind controlled born in, things i simply did not agree with, or knew were downright wrong, that built and built, and, eventually i woke up, after 58 bloody years in !.

but just mainly for fun, what should have woken you up ?.

before becoming a witness, I was a pretty " walk the straight line" type of kid.

When my parents became witnesses the pressure to fit into their mold and hang out with all witness kids was quite

a pressure to deal with.

So as a jr. high student I aligned with the mentality of hanging out with so called spiritual friends VS people from the world, ( that I have known most of my life) that were deemed bad association.

Well, I quickly learned how much fun being a witness was,,,, smoking cigarettes, pot, drinking heavily, lying, going out with worldly girls. And then going to meetings, and fs acting like I was a young missionary,, It was a mind-blowing time of life for me. Looking back, I should have dropped those fake friends and ran away from this religion as fast as I could. But I was torn, being true to who I was at the time or having a lot of worldly fun in secret was a powerful drug for me. what an idiot I was.

Witness fancy dress party huge fails!

so some special pioneers in our cong thought it would be awesome to spice up our boring country town lives with a witness fancy dress party!!

wow what could go wrong?

it was 1993 well one pioneer wanted to out do every one so he turned up in drag as a ballerina in full bad make up...some had costumes with guns swords knives...i mean a cowboy does not have a watchtower in his holster!

back in the early 80's our hall had a party called " radio party". People would lip synch to 50's music, kids had a pie eating contest, and everyone just had a great time.

After the second party, everything came to a screeching halt. heard thru the grapevine that these parties were not good for jehovahs people. It had families from several congregations attending, nothing like animal house.

i haven’t been out in a few months so now we don’t keep any written records and we don’t know which houses are do not calls.

i also noticed i was the only one with a book bag.

Like I said, they follow the laws of the land. At the time of the first incident the laws protected all confessions made to religious leaders. A religious leader would have been breaking a law to report to the police without the family consent. The family also didn’t report it to authorities back then either. Everyone was under the impression that it had stopped upon the confession being made. They found out more recently that the abuse was STILL going on. Just recently the law changed that tells that religious leaders must report to child protective services. The elders turned them into DCFS, and DCFS turned them into authorities. Like I said, I have witnessed them turning others into DCFS for any suspected abuse. You can’t fully believe everything you read on the internet.

He was not a Jehovahs Witness Priest (even though they are called Elders not priests). And trust me, when an elder is informed of child abuse, they turn them into DCFS, and inform the family of their right to seek justice through the authorities. There are so many rumors about how it is handled, but I have witnessed first hand them turning people into the authorities for any kind of child abuse. They fully follow the laws of the land.

But now, the civil trial against the wt society and local kingdom hall elders, ( who did not follow the child abuse laws ) will be gaining traction this year. One of the elders was a school teacher during this time, he was a mandated reporter and failed to do what was necessary because saving the society was the most important thing to do. should be interesting !

local, strange jw thinking

i was reading today that the last star wars movie will be playing next week.

doing a little searching, i found that there have been 12 movies in the saga total, ( box office, total (12 films): $9.323 billion.)..

it got me thinking about when the empire strikes back came out, it was the second movie ( 1980).

It got me thinking about when The Empire Strikes back came out, it was the second movie ( 1980). I went to a showing with a group of uber jw's, and after the movie ended, they all were talking about how George Lucas better hurry up and finish the next installment. They wanted to see what happened before Armageddon came. It was totally unreal to me how fanatical the witnesses were about this fact, they were a mix of young people and several older, established in the religion type folks. I was 20 at that time.

It now has been 39 years since that episode,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

That was one of the first inklings I had that something was wrong with the thought process of these so called "religious" people .

Does anyone else have a situation where you realized that your local group of jw's had some unreal thinking ?
