I don't think they have it so bad. I think most R&F JWs have given up far more in their struggle to live. Let's see what they have not had to give up. Where I last went the following was paid for the CO.

From what I saw most of the COWs were better dressed than most of the women at the hall.
I don't think they had such a bad life, I think the R&F pub and pioneer driving that old 1990 4 door olds, cleaning windows to keep his wife pioneering without any insurance have gave up far more than the COs have.

There was a young kid in my last congregation who claimed he could speak wookie (star wars) character. It really made me laugh to hear him grunt like the fury thing. Who can blame the young kids who need some escape from the WT world.

The thing that never made any sense was when the CO came to visit how they would rearrange the entire schedule for one person. If the TM school and service meeting was on Wednesday, it would get changed to Tuesday just for the CO. Another congregation that met on Tuesdays would have to change to Wednesday just because of one man hundreds of people had to alter their normal weekly schedules. Of course if someone had problem getting off work because of this change then they were just spiritually weak to miss the CO visit.
a co-worker who sits across the isle from me was recently arrested for molesting a 10 year old girl.
my employer has let him come back to work since he has not been convicted yet.
the rest of the staff were notified by management to not talk to this guy about anything non work related.. it is really going to be hard not so say something to this slug.. what would you do if you had to sit next to a pedophile at work?
This creap was finally sentenced. He pleaded guilty to three counts of sodmy on a 13 year old girl, his step daughter. The company I work for paid him off to leave even before he was convicted because no one in the office wanted to work with this guy. He received 20 years for each count and will have to be incarcerated for at least half of this time or 30 years. Not long enough in my opinion. At least he is off the street for now and I don't have to work with him anymore.

i use to hate kissing.
i was a virgin until i was 19 and married.
i hadnt had a chance to experiment with kissing in my teenage years.
I can remember the first girl I ever kissed at age 16. I thought my heart would jump out of my body. That was memorable!
I can't remember any memorable kisses from my wife of 18 years. She hated to show affection in public and in private.
I have just recently realized what I have been missing all those years and now enjoying this fine art. I love it when I can make my partners palms sweat during a passionate kiss. You know it's a good one when your breath is taken away, just for that split second. Those are the memorable ones.
from what i've learned about judaism, jews believe that god is both male and female and cannot be described in one gender only.
this leads to this question: is the lord's prayer, which starts out with "our father, who art in heaven" really be a prayer that jesus taught us to pray?
if jesus was jewish, and evidence seems to point that way, why would he use a male gender identity to describe god when teaching people how to pray?
We refer to G-d using masculine terms simply for convenience's sake, because Hebrew has no neutral gender; G-d is no more male than a table is.
If there was no word available in the Hebrew language for Jesus to refer to God as gender neutral, possibly he was trying to convey the qualities of god with regard to the subject at hand and how people in his day could relate to it.
The lord's prayer deals with topics as providing for our basic needs (daily bread), forgiveness of our errs, and protecting us from evil doers.
The Jewish culture, for the most part in Jesus day, it was the father of the family, that provided for the family food, protection and was the disciplinarian. Those who listened, would then relate the context of the prayer of one who protects and provides as qualities of god and not the fact that he was male.
Of course Jesus could have said "Our table who art in heaven...." and that would have made about as much sense as some of the other things he said.

rutherford frequently denounced governments and churches as an abomination of desolation.
rutherford would have his followers believe that he had a direct link with god and it was he who authorized him to speak with such authority on his behalf.

The intent of the post was not to high-light the sins of Will Rutherford but instead to illustrate the type of authoritarian religion and religious control that J.F. Rutherford experienced first hand as a young boy. This was likely "etched in his mind" much like the experience of this JW man when he was young.

I am sure however back in the 50's it was quite the shock. I did know one elder who would bring a 6 inch ruler to the dances and walk around the dance floor making sure there was at least 6 inches between the brothers and sisters who were not married while dancing. Talk about control!
