  Do you believe we are alone (Aliens, God and Angels)?

  a post someone else made, just made me want to start a discussion on the ideas of aliens, people from other planets, etc and our ideas of god, jesus and angels/demons.. the first time i ever even thought about this on any real level was when i was taking a greek mythology course and we were talking about avatars and the like, at the very same time i was taking a philosophy course and started discussing "did god create man or did man create god".

  it was during that semester that that a group of friends and i started having these very existential discussion which lead to some very interesting questions and dialogue.

  i have never looked at things the same.. flash forward to about three and a half years ago and through a chain of events, i am in a room with people from nasa working on a grant proposal.

  I don't believe we are the only intelligent beings in this whole vast Universe. We 're such a tiny insignificant planet in the Milkey Way Galaxy. How can we think that there isn't life form in the infinite number of Galaxies that are out there. Most of them are so far away that it would be almost impossible to know of them. When you think about it our nearest Galaxy with a solar system is 4 light years away. We can't even travel at the speed of light yet.

  Its hard to fathom for us but I am sure there are other life forms. Yes I think there is angels and demons.

  I hope one day we will find out more about the mysteries of the universe.

  I hear there has been some things the Government knows about and is covering up.

  Anyone heard about the 1947 alien incident in Roswell New Mexico

  ok so who exactly is going to the memorial this year....and why?

  i am, my dad is doing it, i'm going to their hall theyve just moved there (to 'help' out).

  i figured its the one meeting i can't miss as i upset them by not going to any others at all, also ive made a point of not going to my hall and i won't let anyone know i'm at my dads.

  my dad is actually worried i might 'be apostate' about it, as i once said surely passing on the bread and wine is like saying 'no thanks jesus!

  Are you counting time for that message??? I am sorry but you were preaching. We know what you are saying, and have been in your mindset ourselves. Now we are free to think for ourselves.

  Personally I am not here to Bash JW's. I am here for support because being a JW caused me great emotional distress and ruined my childhood. I don't go into JW websites or out on the street and say anything bad about them. I just want to talk to people who have been in the same shoes as I have been and to compare our experiences and feelings. You have perhaps errantly found this site and obviously its not a place that is for you.

  Where Can I Find A Free Website and Free Hosting On The Web?

  i want to create a website, but it dawned on me last evening, there must be places on the web that have free website templates and free hosting.

  i googled it, and sure enough, there are.

  but...what's the catch?

  I build websites and some people ask me to put them up on a free site. The free sites are very limiting, Lots and lots of advertising, pop ups and they limit traffic. Meaning you can only have so many people looking at it at one time and how many in the day. Bandwidth.

  I am with a company for my internet and email and they offer free webspace. I use sympatico in Canada but Aol sometimes hosts free websites.

  Nowadays its really cheap to put up a website and have it hosted. I use a company thats $9.99 a month for webhosting.

  If you want something that is not business oriented or if its something small then maybe the free one will work for you. Geocities is free and hosted by Yahoo. http://www.yahoo.com/r/gc

  I feel sad that you and many of us have had to be in this position. I got out at a time when there was NO ONE to talk to and the internet was not an option. I thought I was the only one that had left the Society and had doubts. There was no way to find other contacts. I went through hell emotionally for over 20 years until finally over many years it finally wasn't foremost in my mind but it still haunted me. I had no one to express this too until a couple of years ago when I discovered through the internet that I was not alone and not wrong to have left.

  Thanks for expressing yourself so well. Please know that myself and many others feel your pain and want to be there for you if you need to talk

  slowly unraveling

  it must be memorial season!!.

  2 car groups in 3 days have stopped by...... funny thing is..... i havent seen anyone aside from brief and hurried " hey, mate" in the various grocery stores, or typical places to run into folk you know for months, and more likely years....... so yesterday, they brought me the latest "insider" wts and after about 10 min of pleasant meaningless banter, finally got to the point....." it would be nice to see you at the hall".

  my response: i have to tell you straight out, that we are all much happier and doing better without marinating in a doomsday atmosphere... we have to look at life in a way where we find different reasons to hope...... talk about a conversation stopper.... i am guessing this is where is starts to show up on the radar...... they were sisters of the fleshly type to one of the elders.

  Who lets it be known that they were once a JW?

  i am curious, for those of us here who have left the jw org, who actually lets it be known to people that they were once a practicing jw.. for me, this is something i tend to keep quiet because it is something i'm not particularly proud of.

  anyone else feel the same way?.

  Mouthy you are soooooooooooooooooooo funny. ROFL I would just love to go out with you one day and hear you do that. IT would be priceless. I am going to make an effort when the snow goes to drive over and take you to lunch and watch you be "mouthy" LOL.

  Myself I rarely ever disclosed that I was a JW for over 20 years. I used to be ashamed of it.

  Now I am not ashamed and do offer that I was one when the subject of why I do not have a career or higher education comes up.

  I love this board, being reminded about the continuing Dominance and control this Society has over the followers. I look back and remember that I used to be so naive as to go along with it.

  Now it seems so ABSURD. They are treating Bethel like its a HOLY PLACE LIKE THE VATICAN. Touring the place is difficult and for me I couldn't do it unless I had running shoes on. I hope they provide wheelchairs.

  I visited the Vatican 4 years ago and they have dress codes but not like that. Women have to have their arms covered and no shorts. Men can't have shorts either but they do allow casual.

  Thanks for reminding us about things like this.

  I don't think I contribute much, I wish I could give back as much as some of you Give.

  I was just thinking yesterday when I saw the Oompa post that I wish I could offer some help and comfort to him but I had nothing of value to say. I felt bad when I saw the Maddie post that I had nothing to offer her. It upsets me that I can't offer more even though I empathize with a lot of things that people are going through. Maybe its because I haven't been here long enough and I don't know anyone well enough. .

  hi hope you all have a fantastic long weekend.

  well it's a long weekend here is s.a. (friday and monday) happy times.

  i don't really celebrate easter but will definately be getting some chocolate eggs and having a family lunch on sunday.. i've been outta action this week with a pinched nerve - i wouldn't wish it upon my enemy.. here's to good times!!!!!!!!!!.
