my daughter thinks that me, coming to these sites is bad.
she thinks, that because i have been out for so long, that i should be "over it", and just move on.
i have done alot of healing here.
I have often had it said to me that I should "forget it all" not easy when you still have family who are JWs (wife and two daughters).
But coming onto forums like these has helped me keep on going. That many others are going through the same thing. Sometimes even worse.
This makes you realise that you have done the right thing and left the JWs.
You also get the support and help in dealing with any JW argument that you have to deal with.
I have been able to help doubting JWs. ex-JWs, those who have JW in family or have one as a friend, and those who are studying with JWs.
I'm making the 30 years I spent as a JW count for something and are not all wasted.
i wasn't there, but a friend called and said the local needs part was how the congregation is having a serious problem.
" meeting attendance has never been as low as it has been this year!
if anyone here knows of someone who is not attending meetings please stop in on them to let them know they are making satan happy.
It's like having ten kids and mistreating them while they grow up till you end up kicking out 7 of them out. Then you sit at the dinner table one day and notice there's only three people sitting there. You've made there lives miserable and dull by making nothing but rules and punishments but you tell the childrens aid " Well they just had a bad attitude." When it's you, that has the bad attitude and needs to be reformed.
This is what has happened to my family.
There are nine in my family, myself. my wife, seven children.
Now there are only three who are JWs , my wife and two daughters.
Only recently a daughter who rejected being a JW , asked her mother can't she see what the Watchtower has done to the family.
The mothers reply was that is wasn't the WT fault but that the rest of use had "rejected Jehovah."
It never enters her head to ask WHY the rest of us have "rejected Jehovah" , she would find that actually we reject the Watchtower .
But of course to a JW that is the same thing.
here's the latest e-mail making the rounds:.
subject: brother witnesses to obama in ncthis is a picture of mark juntunen, a brother in our congregation talking.
to obama when he visited asheville nc during one of his election stomping.
So this JW guy is out having lunch.
Then Obama turns up at the restaurant.
The JW just happens to have 28 year old Awake article with him??
last night one of the elders had a part in the service meeting where he informed the congregation that we are not sending our fair share to the wbts.
the congregation seems to be doing okay when it comes to contributing to the local congregation so that electric bills can be paid and so forth.
but when it comes to literature (the worldwide work), the congregation is woefully negligent.. according to this brother, a circuit overseer has recently stated that if witnesses still had to pay for their literature as they used to, individual watchtower and awake!
I was Literature Servant when they brought in the "no charge" system.
Both the then accounts servant and I both realised this is what would happen.
More literature would be going out than money coming in.
After a couple of years we did get a letter from Bethel saying our payments were not matching what we were receiving.
We could see it back then.
BTW that accounts servant has now left the JWs
my congregation had 85 members ten years ago.
today, there are only 46. the ones that left the organization were mostly between 18-25 years old.
i haven't seen many middle-aged or elderly leave.
I DA'd at the age of 50, seven years ago, after 30 years as a JW.
Since leaving the thing Ihave noticed is that many young JWs, I include those JW family members not baptised also, are leaving. Five in my own family. I have since heard that many other young ones have left also. Some over teachings etc of the WT. Others over what they see is the control being put on their lives. Those who have been DF'd usually unjustly and unfairly (eg. Young guy DF'd for smoking, but Elder only reproved for smoking).
The other trend I have noticed is that ones round the 30-50 age group, who I would have said 10 years ago would never leave the WT, they were loyal and strong for the "truth". But now they have either cut back on what they were doing, even ones who were Elders resigning, but attending just the odd meeting, just doing enough in field service, mainly because family are still in. These ones have either lost "faith" in the WT or have come to know that the WT is false.
Then there are those who on learning the real truth about WT history, doctrines, teachings etc, have totally left.
Of these I have noticed how many are of an older age group 60-70. Who have been JWs all their life, maybe even second or third generation of their family. This group have become disillusioned at the WT. I know of oneguy inhis 70's who now hates the WT after learning many things about them. He is angry that he has wasted his life serving them, and really not truly serving God. Lives which mayhave taken a different course if the WT had not controlled them so much.
The WT is beginning to reap what it sowed. It sowed lies and control and now they are paying for it. They are desperately trying to cling on to what they have left through stupidly imposing more control on what members it has left. Its main growth can now only come internally, or from developing countries of the third world. But in time even these will have access to more information.
What ever age people are leaving the WT the fact is that they are leaving.
it has been awhile since i've posted anything, but i got this e-mail from someone who is on the edge of falling out of the borg due to mental stress.
i've attempted to verify the information, even called the united nations, but haven't gotten to a person who can say if this meeting happened.
my gut says this is a contrived experience with many details just not adding up...but you never know.
RE: the orginal post by Question1.
I heard our Circuit Overseer tell that story as well.
He then went on to demonstrate how statements by the UN are cunningly worded to hide the fact that they will be getting rid of religion in the near future.
so tonight the congregation discussed the front page of the october km -the new meeting schedule.
straight away it was emphasized it was not because of high gas prices that the meetings were being reduced.
it was pointed out that in parts of the world the brothers do not have cars so it was not high gas prices.
Two quotes by posters above.
All the emphasis was on more time for personal study and meeting preparation to build up spirituality to prepare us for the Great Trib.
Wasn't the whole point of small groups meeting together was that when the tribulation started the halls would be closed by the government and people would HAVE to meet in small groups. Isn't that what happens in countries where JWs are "persecuted" Isn't that what the WTS has been pushing all these years?
This is the first thing that struck me when it was put out that they were going to end the book group.
In all my years as a JW it was always emphasised that the book group centres would be needed when the Greta Tribulation starts, because the governments would close the Kingdom Halls down. Even before it was announced an I had mention it to JWs they said such a thing wouldn't happen because of what I have just said.
Were will this leave JWs to meet if the Great Trib strikes? Will there be designated homes to meet at?
Surely meeting in small groups in homes, would be upbuilding "spiritually" everyone would know each other and if anyone was missing it would be noticed. There are to many flaws in their reasons for the change.
Plus we all know that 90% of JWs will probably not be using the "free" night for study. Those with young children will be glad of a night that they can put the to bed early.
heard today that the nov 15 issue has two of its four study articles targeted at helping inactive ones.
get ready for the phone calls to start up.
has the scans of this been posted yet?.
Has anyone done a pdf scan of the Nov 15th Watchtower ?
at http://christianwitnesses.com/ .
there's a phrase: .
"the gov body quietly considered expelling those judged too obese" .
If they did that they would lose half their American members
We used to have an Elder who was about 320lb (23st)
