i like variety and different opinions and i don't see that in the jw's...... what can this lead to?.
....does a bear drop a deuce in the woods?.....does a squirrel defend himself from being used as toilet paper?......sorry..could'nt resist......um...no..(to the queston, that is.)

i was wondering about this the other day before i went to sleep, out of habit and my spiritual beliefs now, i spoke to the spiritual realm above and asked for guidance and protection.. i remember my journey of leaving the jw "borg" (a new term i have picked up here - i like it!
) and at first i refused to pray at all, and then i wasn't sure i wanted to or not, and then i developed my own sense of the higher power above and spirituality and every night before i sleep, i feel blessed to have another day of life, to do it all again.
even on days when i am not having such a good day, i take time to ask the higher realm for strength and direction.
As far as "formal" praying is concerned, only occasionally. But, as far as thinking of him, still being amazed daily at the complexity of creation, and wondering
where I fit in and where it is all going?......Yes, daily.

if there is a god, do you think that the majority of jw's will be saved at armageddon?.
i'm not asking if they have the only true religion, i'm asking if you think they would be saved along with others who do god's will sufficiently to satisfy him.....
Yes. Just as in Jesus' day, the bulk of the responsibilty falls on the religious leaders of the day. Contrary to what most religions believe, I have a feeling that
God is going to be far more merciful than most think. After all, given the fact that even Jesus warned of false Christs and false "prophets - (see JW leaders), to
paraphrase Abraham: It is unthinkable that God would see that we are living in an uncertain situation (tons of religions: each saying that they are the true one)
and then destroy all who fail to pick the right one correctly.

for me it was bible reading, where you could express your own opinion, in line with present truth of course.. pre the change it was awful listening to some fool telling you his opinion of bible highlights.
For me, it was the sunday combo, provided the speaker was a good one. I think also that some of it had to do with the anticipation of eating out afterwards with my friends and/or family.
The other meetings?......the book study and school/service meeting?......very boring, to say the least.

ok, so i'm looking for a new book to start reading.... any genre, any style.. what are you favorite books of all time?.
.
[inkling].
Read alot of science fiction and fantasy when I was a teenager. In my twenties, I read alot of legal thrillers (Grisham, etc.) and biographies.
Last so many years, I've really been into historical accounts and spy thrillers. I highly recommend the Vince Flynn books for thrillers.

i know many very honest jws.
if i had someone do work for me, clean my home, etc.----i'd generally be more at ease with a faithful jw over most others.
in the matter of housekeeping, i'd think that they might be nosier but i doubt they'd outrightly steal from me.. what's your thought on this subject?.
No. People are people. It depends on their character. There are both honest and dishonest people, JW or no.

i have a question:.
how long do you stay in love?
for those of you who are married, are you together "just for the kids"?
As long as it takes......but seriously, after reading all the posts thus far, I'm both depressed and encouraged. Depressed in that I'm presently without that kind of lasting,
passionate love that some write about....and encouraged in that I know that, to some extent, life is what I make it. There is always the future. One thing that
has helped as well is acknowledging that life is finite. It is to be lived. "Life is not a dress rehearsal." ............That said, BRING IT ON!

chickpea started a thread on "time freezes in grand central".

and i got the idea of starting a "twilight" thread...chickpea's thread made me remember of the episode of stop watch.
Don't know the name of it....but the episode with William Shatner who sees the creature out on the wing of the airliner he's flying in, tearing up the engine.
I always picture that when flying at night. Kinda spooky.
