We pray for the governing body
by StephaneLaliberte insince when has it become cool to pray for the gb?
i noticed that at the begining of my fade back in 2015, it had already been there for a good while and was already getting on my nerves.
i means, i grew up in it, but can't remember much further than the 90s and i don't remember this being always in the payers.

Who else provides all this spiritual food?
by StephaneLaliberte intwo days ago, i experienced a spiritual epiphany while visiting the library of a catholic university: i was shocked to find thousands of religious literatures produced by the catholics and protestants in the last few hundred years.
someone could easily spend a secluded lifetime trying to read them all.
for years, i was told by my religious leaders (jws) that the catholics and other religions did not provide spiritual food to their members.

14 kids from the same old congregation
by StephaneLaliberte inthis week, while talking with some old friends, i realized that there were at least 14 kids from a congregation in which i grew up that all left the jws.
that is, 30 to 35 years ago, there were at least 14 kids going to the hall that were of the same “generation” (5 to 13 years old).
in the last 30 years, they have all left “the truth”.

I've Abandoned an Old Friend
by StephaneLaliberte inraised as a jw, i was thought from early age that god was my friend.
and so, i was told to talk to him several times a day through prayer and share with him my broad range of emotions as i went through life; and so i did.
even when i left the jws, i asked for his support through countless prayers.

JW Broadcast May 2019: Anxiety
by StephaneLaliberte inthe women's testimony was a hard watch.
i feel so sorry for her.
the concept that spirituality can overcome sickness immediately induce guilt in the individual and even the sister said so herself @18:40: "i feel ashamed", "wrong with me", "guilty about that", "i'm letting jehovah down", "disobedient to jesus".

Our daughter was free to make her own choice.
by StephaneLaliberte inwhen eloise dupuis gave birth to her son in 2016, there were complications where a blood transfusion would have saved her live.
however, she refused and died; to the horror of the medical staff and the entire province of quebec.. two years later, there was a change in politics and the topic came back up in the media.
the parents of eloise dupuis, obviously exhausted by the media coverage, wrote a comment to a well known news paper in quebec.

Tell you what to do - what to think and what to feel!
by StephaneLaliberte ini just watched the movie apostacy and thereby, visited an ancient feeling of mine.
there were various moments where you could tell that the mother and even the “faithful” daughter were bottled up inside with many thoughts and feelings left unsaid.
their basic, normal, human morality immediately tells them that the proper way to act is not that of the wt.

Disaster Relief Funds
by StephaneLaliberte inif the need for relief is beyond what the congregations in the area can provide, the governing body of jehovah’s witnesses arranges to supply what is needed.
[...] since the work is performed by unpaid volunteers, the funds that are allocated go toward actual relief, not administrative expenses.

So I went to see my dad give a talk
by StephaneLaliberte ini have to say that it was quite a strange feeling.
for many years that i was in, i had to do a lot of pretending with various teachings i personally didn’t believe in.
still, i believed in some foundation and went for that.

Fear of the worldly people.
by StephaneLaliberte inyesterday, i had a conversation with my neighbor during which i explained the greatest reason why i wanted to raise my kids out of the jws: the fear (which translate to hate) jws have for everyone showing no interest in becoming part of their group.
in order for him to quickly relate to what i meant i asked him to imagine, for a moment, he was the biggest racist he has ever known, forced to live in a black neighborhood.
how would you feel?
