Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad

today, july 1, i wrote what has become my annual contact with my parents.

it is their 51st wedding anniversary.

i e-mail them from across the world where i now live to let them know that i haven't forgotten them, i still love them, and that i'm doing okay.

in my year of being on this forum, i have browsed many a disillusioned thread of ex-jehovah’s witnesses expressing similar symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder when detailing their awakening - my own story included.

WAKE ME- Extremely great thread ! Probably one of the best, if not THE best thread written all year on this board.

I totally agree with you. WT Society tried to control and monitor EVERYTHING JW's did, experienced and thought 24 / 7. We were never allowed to develop critical thinking ability because it was stolen away from our brain's neurotransmitters, whereby those transmitters only transmitted JW & WT thoughts. And as has been mentioned it was through the use of fear and guilt that the WT Society was able to do this and keep us really like stunted emotional 8 year old's mentally in our lives in the cult.

And you're right that in the real world and real life - nothing is easy. We need to use our minds in a critical thinking manner if we are to be successful and happiness comes to us once we take responsibility for our own actions and we gain our freedom of mind and movement back ourselves instead of being puppets or robots for the WT Society.

Freedom of mind & movement is what I treasure the most now in my 15 years out of the JW cult. I'm really happy that I've pursued many interests I never would have been able to pursue trapped inside the JW cult. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

this is bigger than christmas and birthdays wrap into one.

thanks to the australian royal commission our youngest son has woke up.

we received a e-mail from him tonight where he apologized to us for shunning us all these years, how bad he felt for doing this.

TOTALLY ADD & REOPENED MIND- I am so happy for you guys that you have your son back ! That is outstanding news ! Been busy and missed this thread until this morning. This is an absolutely beautiful thing that's happened in your life !

Give that son of yours a hug for me and Mrs. Flipper and tell him there are many out here that understand not only what he went through in exiting, but we understand the whole dynamic of what happens in a family during these situations. This gives me hope that one day one or both of my daughters might eventually wake up to TTATT. At least I have a close relationship with my ex-JW son as well. I am so thrilled you both got your son back ! I will clink my glass in a toast to your family being together again tonight ! Take care buddy, we will talk soon. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Do You Think Many Jehovah’s Witnesses Truly Believe?

i did for many years even if i had doubts that i would put on the back burner.

but i thought the majority of witnesses believed, even if they were “weak” in the faith.. obviously, we have elders , pioneers and ministerial servants that are here and they are not true believers.. do you think many jws simply do not believe what they are preaching?

If the way my still in JW family behaves totally hardcore is any indication, I'd say about 70 to 75 % still believe in the WT illusion. Any conversations I've had on the street with JW's at carts or random places when they try to preach at me- they always still seem totally deluded and under mind control. They have no critical thinking ability whatsoever. Like their brain neurotransmitters have been singed only to view things one way- the JW way. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

LEE ELDER- Excellent thread . I agree with this sociologist's views, very much so.

Trump is so controlling & dominating and uses fear and disinformation like cults do to control their followers. He does this not only to influence, indoctrinate and control his followers, he also uses this same method to control Senators within the Republican party. Separating children at the border....

i mean, the law about separating children from their fathers crossing southern us border have been in the books since before obama's era.

the thing is that enforcing that law it has become a public relations disaster for the trump administration.

there's also to much animosity in latin america too, remember the classic agitator "u.s. is the evil empire that treat us badly just to see always their own interests".

That's the point Shirley ! Some of Trumps followers WERE excellent JWS in the past - they've just switched their cult loyalties to the " cult of Trump " now.
