Hey undisfellowshipped, it's nice that you took the time to answer most of the questions you have been asked (very good questions btw). I think I ask you a good one I would like to know what your answer is because it's questions I ask a lot of bible believers and I usually don't get a straight answer.

Apostate CO?
by Marmite inwhat would you think if a co said the following things from the platform?
during a talk entitled the spirit and the bride keep on saying "come" he goes off at a tangent talking about how from 1920 to 1925 we said "millions now living will never die".
he went into great detail about how at first the title was "may" but was changed to"will".

I remember "freaking out" a CO once with something I said to him but that's about it. It is possible that this CO your talking about is seeing clearly.

So, then, you really have no objective basis for saying that an entire society or social group (the Nazis under Adolf Hitler, for example) were wrong or evil when they decided to commit genocide or murder or rape people, or to destroy the "weaker" races, or weaker countries?
And, about the animals:
What about the animals who kill their weaker offspring?
Let's say, if a human being were to kill their 6 month old baby daughter, because they believed that this was the "moral" thing to do, or even if their "social group" commanded it, or their society demanded it, would this act then be acceptable to you? If not, WHY NOT? They're just following their "social group"?
Or, what if YOUR country, determined that it was in the best interests of society or the social group, to rape all females, would this be right or wrong? Or, is there no objective right or wrong?
Is this not what your god did in the bible?
So on what do you base your morality? On what Yahweh decides? then is it not based on his opinion of what is right and what is wrong? Was it wrong for your god to commit genocide? was it wrong for your god to kill thousands of babies? Was it wrong for your god to allow Israelites to take the women of their enemies captive and keep them for themselves?

Do you think you have 'chosen sides'?
by AK - Jeff inin a recent online conversation with a current jw [or at least i think this to be true], i was accused of 'being on the wrong side'.. i countered with my opinion that there are thousands of 'sides' - since every religion believes itself to be the 'right side'.
i know that i left one 'side' that is wrong - full of lies, deceptions, and false doctrines.
but i don't consider myself to have taken any other side - that is, i believe myself to be entirely neutral in such matters - i just don't have enough centuries of life to sort out who might have the 'right side'.

I like what Narkissos said.
This topics makes me think of a Slayer song, " I made my choice, 666 "

These articles make it look like the 1950's model is the best and only way of having a good family. Wow are things better now that I can see through this shite!!
The irony is that a lot of family problems are because of the 50's model, it does not work.

Change of Heart
by evergreen ini am writing in to say that i have come to a decision to return to the meetings at my local kingdom hall.
after much soul searching and careful thought, i feel happy with my decision.. i have decided to submit this on the jwdf to prove to god that i am genuine in my sincerity towards him and to show repentance for the things i have said in the past.
the reasons as to why i have decided to return are as follows;.

Your reasoning sounds like Pascal wager.
Like I said to the other poster that is considering going back, do what you must do. It took me a lot of time and research to understand what I do now and I am not done. Religion is only looking out for itself, it needs people to survive, we don't need it. The bible was written by men and used by the powerful to maintain their power. Do some research on the bible, real research not WT research, how can they be honest? they will not give you information that cast doubt on their position of power. Like I said do what you must do and good luck.

The best thing I can tell you is try and deprogram yourself completely, well as much as you can, I don,t know you but in the little bit that you wrote I detected maybe a little bit of JW reasoning , it's not easy I still have some "triggers" in me. I went back once, it was a good thing because it definitely resolved the doubts I had, now there is no way in hell that I am going back. Do what you must do.

Being Poor is A Crime
by sammielee24 inguilty of being poorby eric ruder / april 23rd, 2009. the jailers of the 19th century even in the pre-civil war south largely abandoned the practice of imprisoning people for falling into debt as counterproductive and ultimately barbaric.
in the 1970s and 80s, the u.s. supreme court affirmed that incarcerating people who cant pay fines because of poverty violates the u.s. constitution.. apparently, though, some states and county jails never got the memo.
welcome to the debtors prisons of the 21st century.. edwina nowlin, a poor michigan resident, was ordered to reimburse a juvenile detention center $104 a month for holding her 16-year-old son, the new york times wrote in an editorial.. when she explained to the court that she could not afford to pay, ms. nowlin was sent to prison.

You don't have to learn french, it helps but it is not 100% necessary. You can live in Montreal and the Eastern Townships and never speak a word of french. Quebec is not perfect of course but I like it.

You should all move to Canada. Legal representation is a right, health care is a right, cops do not have the right to search your car or your person (pack sack for example ) with out a warrant they can not even start surveillance of you home with out a warrant. If you can not pay a fine you can do community service and most of the time fines are very easy to contest. Polices can't hold you for questioning if your are not under arrest, and if you are you have a right to an attorney. The police are required to be polite and respectful with you and they must provide identification if it is demanded.
If you loose your job they are programs that pay you while you go to school and help you find a job. In Quebec if you are out in the streets there is a big chance it's because you what to be out in the streets, we have a lot of great programs for the poor.
Mothers have a year off after they give birth (76% of your gross income the first 8 week and then 56% the rest of the year) fathers get 5 weeks at 76%. Day care cost 7$ a day plus you get money from the government ( provincial and federal). Employers are required by law to give you 2 weeks vacations with pay after a year of full time work. the list goes on..
