My father notified me of an aunts passing two years later, that's the JW in him. He didn't even call me to tell me my mother died. You think you have it bad? Send flowers and a card if a great distance to travel. My condolences to you and your family.

Brad Delp of "Boston" dies at 55.
by BrentR inlead singer brad delp died today of unknown causes.
boston was one of my all time favorite hard rock groups.
they were in the process of recording thier next album.

Brad was a great guy. He and his family were close friends with my ex-wifes family. I met Brad at his fathers funeral about 12 years ago. Spent the afternoon with him and his family at his home for a barbeque after the funeral. I got the news Friday night and called my ex, she is very distraught. I didn't know in the past nine years he had been separated from his wife. She too was a wonderful person.
He will be missed. Tickets were sold out for a show he did at my high school in Danvers a few months ago. I wish I saw it. He had a new group called Beatlejuice doing a lot of Beatle songs, it was great I heard. Brad was well know to all of us who went to Danvers High School. He still lives on with the music he left behind.

Welcome wormwood. I left the JWs in 74 and I still suffer from things that my wife doesn't know about. I never believed in the end. I never baptised. I was raised in it and that's all of the problem for me. Finding out that I'm not alone with these issues caused by the JWs has been the best help I have had to date. There are a lot of good people here. Stay awhile and enjoy.

Specific banned shows, songs, etc...?
by AllAlongTheWatchtower ini know the society tells people not to listen to rock n roll cause its from teh satan, not to watch r rated movies because they're "worldly", etc.
but i was wondering if folks had any specific instances where one song, one show, one movie, or whatever was singled out as being particularly 'evil', and banned on an individual basis?
i was never a jw, but was in the worldwide church of god...the two are rather similar, i've seen many (and made quite a few myself) comparisons on the board; and i can remember as a child that every once in a while certain things would get brought up as being more evil and worldly than others.. examples of specific bans:.

My father was an elder when I bought the album, Journey to the center of the mind, by the Amboy Dukes. Every song on it was about or entitled by the name of a drug. Worse than Strawberry Fields. He went ballistic and destroyed it.
