gettogethers disguised as X-mas parties...?
by Richie inwhen you were a jw, how many of you actually went to a gathering of some sorts, which could have been called a disguised x-mas- or new years eve party among witnesses?
we always had parties and large dinners with them during this time, as a lot of witnesses were somewhat despondent or lonely because of the festivities going on in the "world".... appreciate your thoughts about this!.

Could it be in 2014?
by ozziepost inon day three of this year's district convention, the talk "malachi's prophecy prepares us for jehovah's day" brought out the point that malachi prophecied approximately a hundred years after the jews returned from babylon.. could this be a "softening up" to prepare the r&f that there's still a long way to go for this "system of things"?
100 years from 1914 leads to..... 2014. will this become the next mental 'milestone'?.
cheers,.

Trusting You To Make Me Smile!
by Englishman ina few months ago, 'somebody' - or 'chag' to h20'-ers, and i, had some dialogue about smiley music.. 'smiley' music is music that brings a great big smile to your face, when you hum or whistle along to it, you just can't help a big grin spreading from ear to ear.
it has to be good enough for you to say "wow, that is good", it has to be good enough for someone to take the trouble to wait for the download via audiogalaxy before they have even heard it.. so, what music / song can you recommend to others like me?
bear in mind, please, that i shall post my opinions very, very honestly, especially if it takes forever to download!.

Do you still think like a witness.
by sleepy inone of my customers asked me today whether i celebrate christmas and birthdays almost automaticly i was about to say no.. then i realised i'm not a witness anymore.. i didn't really want to go into a conversaion so i just said those things didn't bother me.. so what things are here stuck in our minds like that ,that are hard to get rid of?.
do you sill have a feeling arrmagddon might come , even though you don't mentally bleive it ,does it still effect you?.
have you realised yet that you are not going to live forever and in fact you will die?.

Monkey trial
by moman init seems this whole debate, (creation v/s evolution) iz coming to the fore again, along with (religion v/s state) debate.
my sister iz a producer for pbs & haz a documentary coming up on the scopes or (monkey trial), & i think little haz changed.. i am non-religious, but i can't help laughing when arguements are made claiming man & monkeys share common ansesters, although a few individuals on my wifes side make me wonder.
i am not saying, i have the answers, but man iz just so radicaly different from animals!

You Know: Three Possibilities
by NeonMadman inafter jousting a bit on these forums with perennial poster you know, i have wondered about his status with the jw organization.
he claims to be a jw, and he claims that his elders, circuit overseer, and even the society are well aware of his activities here on the net.
notice the following remarks he has made:.

Only J.w's will survive the big A
by toddy inmy question is,if it is true that only j.w's will survive then surely everybody on the planet should at least get the option of becoming a witness, but there are people living in remote parts of the world who rarely come into contact with civilisation,im pretty sure there are still small tribes of people living in some rainforest who haven't even been discovered yet, where do theses people fit in,do they just perish like the rest of us?.
sorry if this is a daft question, been on the guinness all night!
