What about if your partner/spouse isn't interested in a sex change but wants to dress like a woman? True, you might love the person, but this isn't something you bargain for when you first get married. After a while, even though you might understand and empathize, it can be completely overwhelming and undermining to your relationship. Some people make it, some people don't. I understand and support people's need to show externally who they feel they are internally, but it definitely comes with a price not just for the person but for the people in their life.

Isn't it great to be free!!! I'm a little over a year out myself (Independence day was Memorial of 2006) and every day I'm away I'm happier and more content and I feel like I'm REAL, like I'm honestly myself for the first time ever! No apologies or groveling or forcing down doubts and misery! I love what you said in your points, btw.

what's in it for the women???
by chelsea ini have often wondered what's in it for the women???
i just read the story of minimus and it is so clear that such power and privilege on offer to males in the borg would be enticing and probably addictive... but the women will never have such offers or opportunities.
they will always be required to be in subjection.

As several have noted, for normal, mentally healthy women, absolutely nothing. Oh wait, there's guilt, humiliation, being forced to keep quiet no matter how moronic the bright-eyed teenager Bethel stud wannabe is, oh yeah, just a regular embarrassment of riches! Anybody ever have the joy of walking up to an elder, bound volume in hand so he can read it to show him where he effed up since we were not to correct a man and instead let the "publication" do it? BLECH! I think part of why I keep reading JWD is so I don't forget just how horrendous it was to be in there!

MOUTHY NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS AND/OR SUPPORT
by Mary inour dear mouthy is really having a tough time right now and needs our support and/or prayers.
as some of you may know, she's already lost 3 of her children in death and the other one to the borg.
in the last couple of days, she's had to worry about her 2 year old great-granddaughter being in the hospital with an illness and yesterday, her daughter had a suspicious mole removed from her back and was told there is a lump in her breast which has to be biopsied.

60 YEARS OLD.......MY FIRST TATOO
by HappyDad inmy foot tastes kind of nasty......like the recent response i made to a post about "sexual positions" (what is sex?
) it is a done deal and i apologize for it as i have done at other times here.. ok.....i'm done with my apology......i have salved my conscience.

That's great, Happy Dad! I really like it. I think tatts can be and should be extremely personal. Like the one Crumpet had done, and Richies, and well, mine. I just had a second one done and I'm sure I'll have more. Mine are really tied to leaving the dubs, too, so they're even more meaningful for me. They do hurt, I gotta agree with you, but on this last one, I went into a zone where I could feel the ouch, but it just seemed really far away, It was kinda cool *grin*

My Spiritual Awakening has turned to........
by AK - Jeff ingeneral apathy about religion.. i don't know precisely when it happened.
but at some point i began to stop needing anything 'organized' in my life religiously.
not too long ago - as attested to by multiple threads i started here - i was still wishing to replace the ritual of religion at the kingdom hall with some other church.

I understand, too, what you're saying, Jeff. After a little over a year of being out, I'm starting to feel comfortable just trusting myself instead of feeling like I should be looking to someone else to direct my spirituality. I'm so happy for you that you're beginning to find that stillness and serenity that I'm still questing towards. Thank you for sharing your insights along the way of your own journey. You're reaching insights that (obviously) those still in the Borg can't even imagine are possible.

New Stupid Assembly Rules
by WTWizard ini have heard on this discussion board numerous rules that apply to upcoming a$$emblies.
some are designed to stop people from meeting the opposite sex; others, to make sure everyone is always ready to recruit new members into the scam.
i heard that some km inserts have been urging those whose congregation has cleaning assignments to sit in the section that they are assigned to clean.

And Juni, don't forget on top of the lunch cooler, the diaper bag, and the kid, you also needed to bring whatever "spiritual literature" in addition to your Bible, songbook and notepad. OOps! Almost forgot about the freaking pillows to save your ass from going completely and totally numb along with your brain! Oh yeah, good times, good times. Sure miss those exercises in torture!

where have i been?
by thebiggestlie inhello to all you folks in x-dub land......you may (or may not) have been wondering where i went to seeing that i simply dissapeared for a while..... i guess ive just been playin it safe by staying away from the "apostates"...i really am just trying to balance my family, my friends, my job, school and everything else into one easy to swallow package which i must say is almost impossible.. my mental state has been horrendous in the past few montths trying to figure out exactly what i believe and what i actually am going to do in this little thing called "life".
i suppose feeling insecure and stressed is pretty standard for a 17 year old like me.
adulthood is just around the corner and honestly im nott sure im ready to face it right now.

I was just thinking about you last night and wondering how you were doing. Glad to hear that you're mostly ok, though I understand the confusion and uncertainty you're struggling with. You're much more together than I ever was at 17, and dealing with that drama on top of the whole belief system swirling around you has to be horrible. We're here for you whenever you need to talk or vent or whatever. Even when you're not here, we're thinking about you and pulling for you.

Reign King, Amen!
by Sarah Smiles indo you find it strange that the jw end their prayer with, "in the name of reign king jesus, amen?".
i guess everthing has to go through jesus and that is why they ended with jesus as king.
which he is king!.
-
brunnhilde
Huh. The closest thing we had here was, "in the name of our reigning King Christ Jesus, Amen." It referred, of course, to the belief that Christ came invisibly in 1914 and has been reigning since then.
