  she didn't want us to go in the ugly vintage station wagon together so she carpooled with her friends, so i'm going dressed as one of the wurzels on a raleigh rally.

  I marked this in my mind when you first posted it. But you haven’t said what things are being deemed bad or in need of correction. I can’t know what you mean here.
  

  Boys are no longer able to do things that boys like to do as a group without girls being included.

  I agree that this is a problem. Certainly women can benefit from getting together without a man—and men without a woman. Private spaces. The public spaces—jobs -have to handle this in other ways. Lines on this have to be clear but practical. Like washing the babies in the tub. For a time the tiny girl and boy get scrubbed together—but there comes a time that they don’t.

  Other cultures seem to have handled gender differences better than we have. I agree there is a shift going on in some places for men and women. But l know a lot - a lot- of young couples that are doing just fine.

  I walked home from grocery store last night and saw a storefront Church cleaning up their holiday BBQ and basketball game frim their sidewalk. Multi-colored Teens laughing, car radio blaring hip-hop Jesus music.

  I thought of Morpheus’ post.

  That op Ed piece was by a J Warner Wallace, police detective, Christian convert. I don’t agree with every small particular namely when he calls for sexual purity (l want to call for Sexual self-respect and Respect). He reminds me that the solutions are not and cannot be found by returning to political backbiting. Like divorced parents more concerned with assigning blame than looking out for the children, doing what’s best for them.

  Unless we, as a nation, are willing to embrace and promote a worldview that helps us understand the proper role of money and financial stewardship, promotes sexual purity and restraint, and helps us place the needs of others ahead of our own desires, we can expect more of the same. — from the J.   Luhe— read what l said. All of it. Justice has been lazy in this whole mess of the sex gangs. It was needed a long time back for those girls. They were “throw-aways” from society. And finally there was outrage.

  when the law is absent for any body at any time there will come a reckoning.

  l read a lot of Tommy’s background long before this post. And of the rape groomers—they were given a pass. Stop reacting. Read. Please.

  i've known many talented witnesses and ex-jw's that could compose music,write novels, paint portraits etc.

  but i think this is the best art-form(music,songwriting and composing) that i have personally seen/heard so far that puts what so many of us have experienced and endured into words.i used to listen to r.e.m.

  's song "losing my religion" and think how great it would be if someday an ex-jw could do a song that would apply even more to us.

  zeb- Thanks for putting that on my radar. Memoirs of this sort are wonderful. The life that she lead happens more often than not— But rarely do people write about it. Too often they are swallowed by shame, drugs or alcohol. Or religion. If they find “normality” they hold on by being silent.

  My own stint in down-and-out Dublin in 1973-74 woke me from illusions of a world that rewarded the honest hardworking poor. The Catholic Church had not been discovered to be the repressive monster in that has since prove to be ( they passed that referendum a few days ago!) Later l would read Frank McCourt, Nuala O'Faolain , Ruth Park (lrish in the Sydney slums) and others whose memoirs and stories helped me understand my own life and the lives l saw in Ireland. I began to see a world where saints and sinners were wrapped in the same hide. Life’s game favors some over others. from the time they draw breath. Humans think they make the game with rules but l saw a mad scrum where desperate people struggled for survival. I lived with young Irish who didn’t have a chance. My own toe-hold in middle class America was a great advantage that l had never realized til my year in Dublin. And now l see the same goes on here.

  It was the beginning of looking at the world through a different lens. I think that any uncomfortable read is a good thing. Always.

  Freddo- I agree with what you said about Tommy Robinson‘s breach of the terms of this freedom. The law is the law. Law is what protects the least among us. Law.

  But where is the law now?

  When injustice is allowed, favoritism of one sort or another, there will be trouble coming.

  I am afraid that Tommy Robinson’s tactics have muddied the water in this business. But the fact does remain that the powers are violating freedoms by putting fear on people for simply wanting to know what is going on. Journalists need to be brave. Newspapers have to be brave. Serve without prejudice.

  Meanwhile, the judge who sentenced him also ordered the British media not to report on his case. Newspapers that had already posted reports of his arrest quickly took them down. Even ordinary citizens who had written about the arrest on social media removed their posts, for fear of sharing Robinson's fate. All this happened on the same day.

  Justice has been lazy in this whole mess of the sex gangs. It was needed a long time back for those girls. They were “throw-aways” from society. And finally there was outrage.

  As Freddo says, take a long look at what’s going on. It is possible that there were other non-Muslims involved in this mess. In the US there are sex traffickers that we’re hiding in business communities. This idea that Muslims are/were the only ones that did this is absolutely stupid. Really stupid. It would be no surprise that peeling back this chaos you discovered that the authorities would rather have riots over “dirtyMuslims” than show how truly corrupt and heartless they’ve been about sex trafficking among vulnerable populations.

  Insist on Justice. Make it serve everyone.

  edit: not to say that Britain doesn’t have a problem with Muslim radicals. I have tried to keep up with that. And I saw an interview time he did with an MP who is of a sort that l thought was sensible. My view from across the pond.
