Abrahams wife Sarah was actually his half sister
by evergreen inreading through genesis has been an eyeopener for me.
i was surprised to read in chapter 20 that sarah was in fact abrahams half sister.
in verse 12 of this chapter, it mentions how abraham and sarah both had the same father, but different mothers.

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU HEARD IT ALL!!! THIS IS SICK!!!
by Lady Liberty inmy mother called me last night and shared with me something my dad just discovered in doing some research on the internet.
it is out of the book published by the wathchtower in 1966, entitled, "life everlasting in freedom of the sons of god".. my parents have the book, and listen to what was written about adam and bestiality.... page 45, para.
before god created anything new, a woman, god left the man free to determine whether there was a suitable companion for him among all the lower animals.

Help: biblical person raised by non-believers, became man of God?
by Awakened07 inok - this is something that is waaaay back there in my post-jw mind: i seem to remember that enoch lived among non-believers, and was alone in believing.
but when i do a search, there's nothing of that sort in the bible.
then of course there's job, and for that matter moses, who were both men of god in spite of growing up (and/or at least living) among non-believers.. but i know i'm not thinking of those two.

Rethinking Cain & Able, Favoritism, Parenting
by TMS injehovah never had a father.
he never knew the feeling of being slighted, less loved than one of his favored siblings.
based on the above, was the first incident of sibling rivalry mishandled by jehovah?

Iraq in the Bible, America in the Koran?
by gaiagirl inat the moment we all have our own ideas about the country called iraq, a friend of mine recently sent me an email with a list that surprised me- since i am not familiar with the modern names of many of the places mentioned in the torah, koran, and hebrew scriptures of the bible.
1. the garden of eden was in iraq 2. mesopotamia, which is now iraq, was the cradle of civilization!
3. noah built the ark in iraq 4. the tower of babel was in iraq 5. abraham was from ur, which is in southern iraq !

I just can't shake this feeling about the word Jehovah, and Now I know why
by A-Team inhad to do a little historic research to find out that jehovah is actually 2 hebrew words compounded: yah(h) and hovah.
yah(h) means: "i exist," "i am," "i create," or "i will be or bring into being.
hovah means: ruin, mischif, but yet,it's root, havvah, translates as: "calamity, iniquity, mischief, mischievous (thing), naughtiness, naughty, noisome, perverse thing, substance, very wickedness.
