Yesterday my father informed me that he will shun me...
by nvrgnbk inbut only if a judicial committee tells him to.. if they say i'm inactive and let me be, he can still talk to me.. it's meaningless, because i would never meet with a jc, but he let me know where he stands.. he's dead to me.. i'm not hurting.. lost tons of respect for the man.. i told him he was brainwashed and left him without saying goodbye.. to no longer live for his approval was liberating, but this is even better.. i told him that i couldn't do that to my son.. his response?.
unconditional love is a lie.. you only get unconditional love from a dog.. sick, brainwashed, emotionally bankrupt man.. p.s.- not looking for cyber hugs.

JW's not the only one preaching the end is near. Born agains are doing it.
by jaguarbass ini get this news letter daily from a biker friend who used to sing with my band.
he is a born again type and has a ministry to outlaw bikers called the prodigal sons.the wactower is not the only group that preaches the end is near.
i think its a biblical message that people that read the bible tune in too.i think the problem with the wactower and the end of the world is they or i took it seriously, and they tell you not to get an education and make provisions for living in this system, which is also somewhat biblical.

I reckon there are a lot of small religious groups (typically of Christian domain) around the world that are apocalyptical type. The JWs probably being the most well known for it as they are maybe more widespread than most other such groups.

as a child and especially a teenager, this quote even above others was most rammed down my throat like bad medicine.
it was the end-all, be-all quote to stop any discussion that might lead to any kind of fun or "normal" childhood activity outside of jw's.

I think it was Judge Rutherford who made this change. I think this was a part of his bold move to seperate the Watchtower from the rest of Christendom

Exactly! If they truly missed you they would give you a phone call or even come and visit you.
Them saying "I miss you" or "i missed you the other night" is just an insincere, programmed response to you being absent at one or two meetings.
