i honestly believe most jw males stay in the orgnisation because they are given control, i.e.
married males have ultimate control over their wives and children.
i know a woman who was married to an elder and who said that prior to becoming a jw she would never be submissive to her husband.
I sometimes wonder if having to accept this is a reason, maybe the main one, why so many jw marriages are unhappy
Lets not get to carried away!!! I know some want to attack the Dub's, with good cause, but let's not make generalities with not much proof to back it up. This isn't just a problem in with JW's, there are unhappy marriages everywhere!
the society has always been against tithing..........a stand they took from early times and which hasn't changed............ do you think they now wish they had incorporated tithing, with all the money they seem to be requiring.
(ex.- every year the donation options mentioned prominently in the watchtower).
tithing has obviously worked well for the mormons, what would happen if they now decided to include this "principle" today?.
Had they not demonized college educations so much, many Witnesses would have higher paying jobs; which would make tithing more reasonable. No way will they ever institute tithing. Too many Witnesses are barely scraping by
Higher education promotes free thinking which is exactly what the Org. doesn't want. The majority who are smart enough to get one probably won't be hanging around to donate anything!

i'm thinkinf of taking up kendo...... but lots of people have been advising karate, taekwondo, jujitsu, judo and aikido to me.... does anyone on this board do any of the oriental martial arts?
any suggestions on the benefits and disadvantages of the martial arts?
My son is currently taking Koryo Gumdo (Samurang sword of Korea). It teaches mostly sword fighting with some hand to hand combat.

my 16yo son has just bought his very first concert ticket and it's for the rhcp concert in sydney australia in april 2007. he is sooooooo excited!!!
he was taking photos of the ticket last night and asked for a frame to put it in!
he is very cute.
They were just in Chicago for Lallapalooza, I didn't get a chance to see them. Should be a great show!!

My nephew was 3 years old and had lukemia, he need an emergency blood transfusion, my sister and brother-in-law fought it. Long story short it courts step in and saved his life!!
I remember one elder asking me with a sad face...."how are they taking it".....I remember even then thinking he's alive you pile of dung. He's is 13 now and just got baptised at the DC......
my doctor wants me to try hypnosis to help my sleep and anxiety.
