Gettin in hours...not productive in the least. No effort to actually make human contact for their "ministry." This drives me nuts.
Oh, and the "rural" territory. Hours spent in the car going for lunch...and they feel soooo good about their day in service. Actual contact may be less than a person who has a productive 5 hours a month, yet the low number is judged and the high number glorified.
One of my buttons.

It's such a disconnect isn't it? The JW disconnect to the human race is just sad.
Sorry this is going on for you. But it does make some things clearer doesn't it.

I think the WT rules and regulations for most things are ridiculous and stupid.
However I don't see what is wrong for having a dress code for being part of a delegation for an entity you are representing. Dress codes are normal for all sorts of organizations and travel. You don't wear shorts into cathedrals. You don't wear pants in Egypt or Morrocco if you are a lady.

Is it just me? AAWA.co
by bafh ini'm curious, anyone else find the aawa.co website negative?
heavy handed on the emotional trauma posts, and light on the informational posts?
maybe it is just me but on top of the fact that there isn't much posting going on there, the topics were downers.

Well their focus is to address Watchtower abuses and names certain critical ones. It is clearly in their name.
If you are looking for different that may not be the place.

Theft of Reminiscing
by rebel8 inso i'm now at the developmental stage of adulthood when my peers and i are beginning to reminisce about our childhoods.
if you've ever taken developmental psychology, you know the importance of reminiscing.
yesterday i went to an event about something retro and participants were really nostalgic and just really enjoying themselves.

Oh my gosh! I'm experiencing the same thing but didn't identify it as you have.
I listen to college tales and normal adventures of friends in their young adulthood, and I feel sad, angry, regretful...all damn over again. Again because I have for the most part worked through the emotional process of leaving the cult, worked hard at that. Now certain situations remind me of life where I wasn't allowed to choose...or think...which is the worse thing.
Damn emotions.

Movie BLACKFISH Reminds Me of Watchtower Corporation
by OnTheWayOut inyou can google it to learn more but blackfish is a documentary about killed whales in captivity.
particularly a male named tilicum who wound up killing trainers, the last one in 2010.. i had to bite my tongue when my jw wife said "whad did ya think?".
i answered but wanted to say that seaworld giving the impression that trainers were most highly educated was a lie, telling the public these were isolated instances of trainer error was a lie, and all their actions and area tions made me think of wts.. trainers were typically not marine biologist but just young eager excellent swimmers.

Being raised around Marineland and Sea World, I visited these parks my whole life and loved it. The last time I went to Marineland was before they closed, 30 years ago, and Bubbles the pilot whale was disturbed and just going up and down vertically in the middle of the pool, like a person in an episode rocking back and forth. I cannot forget that site to this day.
My bf and I were members of the American Cetacean Society, Greenpeace, (he was not a JW), Cousteau Society, and went to Sea World a lot. Sometime in the 90's for some reason we just began feeling it was wrong to keep these creatures in captivity solely for our enjoyment. We stopped going. It disgusts me.
I will see the movie. I am so glad attention will now be brought to this. Before they completely enclosed the orca show tank with glass at Sea World, there was a platform the whale could swim up to and pose. One time between shows, the whale was just free and swimming around and it decided to slide up to the platform and take a look at us sitting, no more than 5 ft away...no glass. He was looking at us and we were looking and talking to him. That eyeball...wow. He was glorious.
It's time to end this.
