  i know i rarely if ever read the magazines that i used to promote and place with householders (besides the watchtower study).

  for me this is a new topic of interest.. doubtless may on jwn will be able to fill in the many blanks regarding parousia, adventism, and date setting.. in matthew 7:15, 16 jesus warned: "be on the watch for the false prophets that come to you in sheeps covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves.

  by their fruits you will recognize them.".

  can one conclude from the fruits of adventism, that it is antichrist apostasy?.

  Genuine repentance - if you can fake that you'll avoid getting disfellowshipped

  to paraphrase a well known saying.

  is it true, in a judicial committee, if you can fake repentance, then they are likely to let you off being disfellowshipped, almost regardless of the "severity" of the sin involved?

  can former elders and perhaps victims of the process shed light on the matter?

  I dealt with quite a few adultery cases as an elder and only one was DF. The one that got DF was a prominent, married elder in the congregation

  getting a few BJ from prostitutes.

  I was not Df even though the elders knew i did not believe in the watchtower anymore. They allowed me just to fade.

  Of course being one of them, having buddies on the body of elders always helps.

  people going door to door uninvited should be required to get a licence and sercurity check if they are going door to door and required to show it on demand while engaged in the door to door work.. after all it is a perfect stranger for the most part who could be an imposter or maybe even a violent criminal or rapist.

  no one convicted of sexual molestation or violent crimes should be given a permit.

  an added benifit would be less people knocking on your door trying to sell you something be it a vaacum cleaner or armegeddon life insurance protection.. what is your opinon?.

  In the suburbs of Chicago( Brookfield, La Grange) we had to stop at the police station and sign in right befre we started knocking on door,

  that was in the 70's and 80's.

  Many people would complain and call in the station but the cops could not stop us from preaching.

  when you were a believer did you give large donations to the society?

  if so how much did you give?

  i know an elder who's a chiropractor and he generously gives $400-800 a month to the society.

  The New Balloons-Will Hook Up Internet to the Remotest of Villages!

  my name has changed from truthover, i guess because i haven't been on as much, however, last week the big news report was that these "balloons" would go higher than the satelites and would beam the internet into all the huts and villages around the world that are not connected.

  just throwing it out there, what will that do to the 3rd world countries where, according to the ww report, the growth is for the wt?

  once they are online and can do their own research as in north america, for example, do you think there will be growth or disaster for the society?looking at that report, growth was lowest in educated areas of the world, while big in 3rd world coutries and if you look at the number of hours preached vs the nbr baptized, the percentage rate is terrible, very slow growth, baptisms have not changed for years and are around the 250,00 per year mark while the pub grow slowly, yet looking at baptized ones and add that nbr to the average pubs last year vs ave pub this year, , there is still about 100,000 missing and that is not due to death.. your comments pls... thanks tl.

  Growth comes mainly from children getting baptized at young age. It's always been so for decades.

  If you have more than 100k congregations and you have 2 kids getting baptized in every one of them, you get your 250000

  a year.

  Those very kids will usually fall out a few years later.

  Time for this Newbie to say - Hello everyone!

  in just the several months i've been lurking here, i have benefited from many of the posters comments and viewpoints.

  this is truly a special place for the unique community that has been created here.. after years of holding off my exit from the org (that may be another post) i recently became officially out (by letter of da), but it was a very difficult process as many of you know.

  thankfully, i now have my wife (was also a witness) onboard and we support each other.

  Elders won't stop bugging

  so i haven't been to a meeting since last december.

  the elders recently have come over to my house at random times of day and during the week and one weekends.

  just to let you know, i have only had one visit since december.

  Tell them everything is ok, you're doing just fine and as soon as you need them you will give them a call.

  Be stubborn as they are and avoid their visit.

  Eventually they'll get the message.
