Dobbie, I don't understand your post. What are you referring to -Beslan- little children drowning. Can you explain?
Don't think you are droning on and on- without posters how would we know each others ideas?
.
i wonder how many are still drawn to the beliefs but just don't believe the wtbts is jehovah's representative on earth and the only hope for mankind?.
of course we know some are not correct like 607 bc and 1914 and 1975 etc.. breeze

what exactly are the "core beliefs" of the wtbs?
i was raised in it and don't even know what "they" are.
is it me or has these core beliefs been extremely fluid?
The core beleif is that the Governing Body speaks for God.
You are so right. I remember sometimes, if someone asked a question out in field service, I'd think, "What is our position on that now? I will have to consult the latest (and only the latest) directive on that to know what I believe."

if someone else has posted this...sorry!
In the picture of him and his wife, it looks like he is wearing eye make-up. How does he get away with that with the Witnesses?
What if any regular brother wore eye make-up- wouldn't they be counseled?
i've been reading for days and wanted to finally introduce myself.
i'm swamboozled's husband and i thought it only appropriate to make my name hamboozled.
i think our names pretty much reflect how we feel in being mislead for so many years.
Hello. Welcome to the forum. I am having a hard time with that one, myself. Please read the thread from Breeze on how do you feel about the teachings of the Witnesses. My post is there and will explain my disjointed thoughts on the matter.
I am not df'd or da'd. Came from (started to say false religion) first before JWs and don't intend at this time to join a church so I don't have an answer to that question. Please let us know what you come up with.

As my alias would suggest, I am in a state of confusion. I did not leave because of doctrine. I am not df'd or da'd. My child was treated so badly that my family was stumbled.
I do not believe in hellfire. What a repugnant notion.
I never, even before Witnesses, believed in a Trinity. I always viewed Jesus as God's son. Yes, God-Jehovah. I remember a song in the Baptist Hymnal --Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah.
I always wondered, in church, who the meek ones were who would inherit the earth, if everyone went to Heaven. Also, animals are not in Heaven, but the lion and the lamb were to lay together.
Jesus was clearly ressurected. Lazarus was brought back as a human. What a kind thing for Jesus to do. I want to have hope that if I die I can live again.
As far as the 144,000- how do the Witnesses show 8,000 of them still alive year after year?
Why would the light get brighter and brighter but the dead in Sodom will be ressurected, no they won't, yes they will?
Why, if the U.N. thing was not biggie, can't they just let everyone know? Are the RandF too stupid to handle the truth?
Who will take over the reign of the WTBTS if all of them have to be annointed but they are all dead? If it is the other sheep nethenim, how can they be the faithful and discreet slave to dispence spiritual food if not annointed?
Why couldn't they really appologize for 1975 instead of saying "It is to be regretted?"
So many things, it makes my head spin. If they truly were a loving organization I could overlook alot. I cannot overlook child abusers having no action taken against them or someone being reproved because they know about the UN NGO link.
The shunning is the most unloving. Tell parents they should completely shun their child when they need them the most. Or for years shun a family member because they have found out something that is completely true about Russel, etc.
The answer is, I don't have one. What do you think?
i came home today to find my wife crying whilst reading the 'when a loved one leaves jehovah' article.
its been a good few months now and i can appreciate how she feels.
but it just irritates me how my disagreeing with this religion has such a catastrophic effect on our everyday lives.
Grace
I must tell you that I admire you. You have not become bitter. You did what you could to help a young person. That is the truly Christian thing to do-to love with deeds and truth. I wonder how this girl's mother explained to people at the Hall that she did not see her daughter. I have a daughter. I would never have allowed her to be parted from me. If through some circumstance it was forced on me, I would still have done my utmost to teach her what she needed to know upon becoming a woman, etc. and tried to see her and guide her.

Lisa Rose, you are right. I would have read that article and cried not too long ago. Things change. Kindness can change people. We all at one time were right in line with "correct and healthful teaching" but we see things differently now. Patience is called for.Patience and some fun times as a family away from the meetings, maybe on vacation or a beautiful natural place near you for a picnic.
hey everyone,.
my hubby and i decided it is time to sell our little starter home and buy something a bit bigger.
one reason we are doing this now is that my sister who is developementally delayed and lives in ny needs a new place to stay.
It is scary to change. Especially buying and selling a house. I remember when we moved once, to show my house, I put cinnamon in a bowl of water in the microwave for just a minute. Made the house smell nice. The next showing, I did not have time to get the cinnamon ready, so grabbed a chocolate chip cookie and put it in the microwave for one minute. The entire kitchen was enveloped in white smoke and a sicky-sweet smell. Oh, well, the people did buy the house! You'll do fine.
well blow me down.
i learned something new today about jw doctrine.
from page 79 of the "what does the bible really teach?
I don't understand. I always thought "as in heaven, also upon earth" meant that it would eventually be done on earth, just as it was already being done in heaven. What?????????
the andrea yates verdict came down again and it was not guilty.
she will be sent to a mental facility instead of prison where in time, and after therapy, she may in all liklihood be reintegrated into society at some point.
what do you think of the verdict?
Here in Texas the story was in the news constantly. There are many details perhaps not commonly known about her case. She had been having mental problems for awhile. She was not then on medication. She suffered greatly from post-partum depression.
She had really sole responsibility for every aspect of these children's lives. Her husband did not help her, and he demanded that she home school them all.
This woman had more than she could bear. She loved her children and felt that there was no one else to care for them, but she could no longer live up to the expectations thrust upon her.
This woman was completely insane at the time of their murders.
I suffered post-partum depression with my one and only child. It was mild, but I did have some disturbing thoughts. I cannot imagine what life was like for this woman.
I guess until you walk a mile in someone's shoes........
