  Things about Jesus the Borg didn't tell us

  has it ever troubled you when you read a scripture that tells you something about jesus that the borg doesn't?.

  care to make a list?.

  If Jesus is God then who ressurected the boy on the third day

  Jesus answered that:J ohn 10:18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father." If you accept that the "body" can be separate from the "soul" then this makes sense. Jesus could give up his earthly "life" as a sacrifice - then take it up again when he resurrected his own body.

  John 6:54-56 - speaking of "communion"- Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. Notice that he says Whoever - he doesn't limit this invitation to only a select few by saying "those I approve" or "the faithful slave" or anthing of the type. Instead - the invitation is open to everyone - Whoever - interesting!

  Just when I thought I didn't hurt over the JW's Shunning,,,,,,,, I dream :(

  for such a long time, i haven't had any dreams dealing with my jw issues, and mostly i just pick and make fun of my old jw days.. last night i dreamed another dream about old friends and it was painful.

  i woke myself up crying.. i dreamed my family that are all out, in laws included where at a convention.....there was one sweet girl that we have known since she was a baby and she was waving and smiling at us from afar.. i was worried she would get in trouble, and wondered if she knew we were d/a.

  ( of course in real life she knows).. as the dream went on , more and more of the faces of so many of the witnesses started to appear.

  (((Lyin))) - I hope it helps you to know that you are completely normal. These dreams are part of the healing process. We have a tendency to push down thoughts that we don't want to deal with - our consciousness controls our environment during the day. But our subconscious brings those things to the surface when it's in charge. I also have these dreams from time to time.

  There is a scripture - I believe it is in Job - that says something to the effect that in our dreams God whispers into our ears. Perhaps it is his way of gently nudging us when there is some unresolved issue that we must address in order to heal and grow.

  I have found it helpful to really disect those types of dreams when I have them. I consider what each person or scene may actually represent - and what is it about that representation that bothers me. It's tough to address those issues, but it's the only way to heal.

  Would you get baptized again?

  i was baptized as a catholic, when i was very young, and then baptized in my late twenties as a jw.

  which leads to my question.

  if you joined another religion, would you get baptized again?

  Shame on you wasting good drink when people in poor countries are going sober!!

  I was baptised JW when I was young (I think 12 or 13 - don't remember the exact year). I didn't plan on getting baptised every again, but circumstances in my life changed and I just felt like doing it about 2 years ago - I was rebaptised by a non-denomination church. For me it was a statement for myself that I was cleansed of all that bad JW background and was moving on. I also really wanted to commit myself to Jesus - and I felt like I didn't do that the first time around. I was committing to an organization and doing something to make my parents proud.

  Now - back to Valis about wasting that beer...........

  sister self-rightous busy body-- always has her nose in everyone else's business.

  makes a point to ask questions without really asking them like "oh we havent seen you here in a looong tiiiime" and "we miss hearing you comment at the meetings" .

  brother womenizer--known for dating all the "available" sisters and dumping them .

  I think you will find a lot of people who were just like me - trying to do it "right" but really overburdened and secretly wanting a way out without loosing it all. I feel so bad for them.

  I dont pray anymore.

  i havent prayed in years.

  i quit praying while i was still going to meetings.

  i stopped praying when my elder ex would pack the kids in the car and say if i didnt go to the meeting then i wouldnt see them again.

  I love your "to the point" style. And I believe you have a lot of wisdom to share with us - I enjoy your posts!

  I am in 100% agreement with mouthy about guilt being destructive. Whatever path you are on, guilt will stand in your way.

  Wow - my heart really goes out to you. I know how you feel - I quit praying after I was DF'd - figured my prayers were never answered and fell on deaf ears anyways. But I realize now that my prayers WERE being answered, it just wasn't the answer I was expecting or looking for.

  When my son was little and I was trying so very hard to be a good JW, aux pioneering, trying to find work to support myself and my son that wouldn't require working on meeting nights (and on and on) - I prayed for help - I was miserable and prayed that God would make me happy. One day I walked into the restroom of a large office building to freshen-up before an interview there. A woman was walking out the door - she turned around and came back in and said that the Lord had given her a message for me - that he heard me and had a plan for my life. Of course, I was a JW at the time and thought she must be crazy.

  But she was right. All these years later I look back on the circumstances that have evolved to find me in the position I'm in now and I realize it was a purposly woven plan for my life. It hasn't always been fun - many things I've been through I have begged to be released from - I have been through abuse, depression, the loss of my father, my brother's murder, to name a few - but I now look back and realize that every one of those experiences helped me grow to the person I am today. I don't believe God caused these experiences - but I do believe he can use them to our advantage - as the scripture says "beauty from ashes". I really like who I am now - I am happy and content - and I now know that I have the strength to overcome many things. I'm not afraid any more. I know would not have made it to this point of healing and growth had I not been on this path.

  With that being said - I do believe God hears our prayers, and I do believe he answers them. But it's not always the answer we wanted - or when we wanted it.

  does anyone have a current mag with those listings?

  i wrote bb that i'd look around and haven't found anything yet.

  Kingdom hall right next to another chruch.

  today i took a ride in a city where i never go.

  i saw a kingdom hall and about 500 feet away i saw an evangelist church.

  both buildings on the same side of the street, look quite similar and so close to each other.

  after reading puternut's post "interesting visit" i wonder if his cong.

  is an isolated incident or not.

  i personally dont know of any pedophile elders, but i'm sure there are some in my area.

  This phenomenon isn't limited to the JW's. In fact, the profile of a pedophilia includes someone with high standing or responsibilities in their church. Scary hu?!

  Some churches now require background checks before you can work in the youth groups - I think that's a good idea. I also have taught my daughter that she NEVER leaves the group with anyone. If a teacher wants her to leave the group and go with them alone she is to tell them NO and go tell another teacher that it is her mom's rule not to leave the group.

  So sad that we have to watch our kids everywhere - even at school and church.

  Great job Gary! And it was so obvious that that Campbell was lying - and using the "Red Herring" approach - he never addressed the question of medical treatment, just tried to completely change the subject.
