  The advertising system pulls whatever active cookies you have in the current browser and serves up similar ads, it also bases some ads on keywords in the thread you are on. Which is why I recommend using a private browsing mode.

  Soliloquy

  in recent years the assemblies started to feature a new kind of demonstration on stage: the soliloquy, where inner thoughts and reasonings of the character are uttered aloud for the benefit of the audience.

  usually the plot is something like this:.

  1. the character (a brother, a sister, a youngster) starts with indulging in a selfish/materialistic/unspiritual thought/plan.

  one of the most fascinating aspects of the jw religion is the profound fear of demons (evil spirits) it engenders in its members.

  i just wondered whether it's something that is used by the leadership as a means of control, or whether it's simply a concept that grew legs and took off on its own?

  I know back in the early eighties we'd hear some spooky JW stories, but in the nineties they started discouraging talking about it. Interesting thing I've noticed is that you rarely hear any demon experiences anymore. Anyone else notice this?

  My Window cleaner is a JW!

  i've had the same window cleaner for 2 years.

  very cheap and does his job well.. the other week though i heard him whistling.... at first i thought my mind was playing tricks but no... he was whistling kingdom melodies!.

  As Far as JW's and Thanksgiving go...

  it's one of the most confusing holidays to jw's.

  it doesn't specify who to give thanks to, it's a u.s. holiday that is semi-patriotic and semi-religious but not necessarily either one.. i suppose jw's should go out of their way to avoid giving thanks this thursday so jehovah doesn't get pissed at them for being so slightly normal worldly and maybe accidentally smite them if armageddon starts this thursday..

  Meh, we've typically had a turkey dinner on thanksgiving unless we were just too busy or something. Depends on whether you're a laid back dub or an uber dub that gets offended at everything.

  The one thing that jumped out at me in this article was the glaring contradiction. In one paragraph, you have the GB taking the lead with the early Christians, yet in another it clearly shows that Jesus used holy spirit to direct individuals in the preaching work.

  There is at least one CO that's I've heard of come down HARD on Facebook. He mentioned that "If an elder, MS or Pioneer has a Facebook page, that may call into question whether or not they are exemplary". I shit you not.
