Blizard is correct. I've heard it stated from the platform that not having windows allows them to focus on whats being said on the platform. At my windowless hall everyone just resorts to staring at their shoes.

QUOTE #2 from Awake 2006
by skeeter1 inthe august 2006 awake!
quotes on page 6, "dr. gariel pedraza recently reminded his colleagues in chile that "transfusion is a poorly defined practice," one that makes it "difficult to...apply universally accepted guidelines.
so, dr. pedraza is saying that doctors do not know what they are doing?

The WTS has to justify why God’s so called ban on blood is actually a protection for us. They use the same arguments for fornication (STD’s), over-drinking and the ban on smoking. This explains why God put the rule in place. Since many of their rules are based on OT laws, of which Christians are not under, they rely on the “principals” of the law to make their rules. For many of their rules this works out (ex: smoking, over drinking) but for the blood ban it doesn’t. The ratio of those who have died from refusing a blood transfusion compared to those who have died from contracted diseases after accepting transfusions is not even close. The blood ban has resulted in the avoidable deaths of thousands. Thus their ban on blood is not rational, it makes no sense that a loving God would have thousands die needlessly for a symbol of life.

Is This Discrimination ?
by Bstndance inyesterday, i received a notice of an arts grant available for people in urban areas.
in reading the materials it stated (and i'm going to bold the same words the application did): must be a person of color from african, asian, or hispanic heritage.
i was quite offended by this.

Yeah I meant that tongue in cheek. Actually “reverse discrimination” as I have been described it is when you are overly nice to someone of a different race simply because of their race. For example: Your in a pissy mood, not smiling at anyone, suddenly you see a black person in front of you and you give them a big smile along with a “how are you sir”. You are discriminating against them, treating them differently than others, because of their race. This is something I myself have been guilty of, and work hard to correct, because I grew up in a nearly all-white area.

It is definately descrimination but I agree with funkyderek, if it's private money they should be able to do with it as they please. This type of descrimination against caucasians (reverse discrimination if there is such a thing) is annoying but ultimately it has not been nearly as harmful as the descrimination people of other races and ethnicitys have faced. When is the last time you were pulled over because you were a white person in a crappy car? When was the last time a black lady crossed to the other side of the street because she was afraid you might mug her? When was the last time a conveniance store clerk followed you around because he thought you might steal something? It's sad & don't agree with it but it's a fact of life.

To all who still attend JW meetings
by Stealth infor any who still attend meetings, .
do you still put donations in the contribution box?
if you do and don't have an issue with disclosing, how much each month?

I haven't donated one penny for years now. Don't plan to either. They can sell off their prime Brooklyn Heights property if they need money, they're not getting any of my hard earned cash.

I was raised in the lie. I remember a bro in my first cong. had a bunch of tattoos on his arm (he had been in the armed forces). I was always kind of afraid of him because of those tats. Thing is he is a really nice guy. I guess getting a tattoo would be “marking” myself. I can live with that.

I can’t think of anything more meaningful to me than having my kids’ name, or some other symbol of them permanently etched onto my body. Location is my biggest question. I don’t really want it on my arm as that would be too obvious. I was thinking on my back or chest.

This is news to me

Yeah, that happened a few years back. It was a "bid deal", letter read at the meetings and everything. They claimed it was to allow the GB to focus more on spiritual things. When really it is a way to protect the GB from any sort of legal repercussions from their insane and dangerous decisions.

OK, so I’m now a big fan of the show “Miami Ink”. After watching this show and seeing the amazing artists and their work I have realized that I want a tat. I want something with my kid’s names in it. My question is, is getting a tattoo while a witness a DF’ing offense or will I just be “marked”. Honestly I wouldn’t mind being marked as that would mean I wouldn’t have to deal with any of the “privileges”.

A new "class" for the goobering body.
by IP_SEC inthe wts is fond of associating itself with great men of the bible claiming to be of this or that class (john class, isaiah class and so on).
they claim god given authority to keep his people clean and to make rules to cover situations not found in the bible.. pharisee rule not found in the law.. *** w96 9/1 12 the law before christ ***.

Great post! Thank you for that. I have argued with my wife how the many “rules” enforced by the elders are like the Pharisee’s rules. She doesn’t see it. I think I will dig up that WT article.
