The JW's are the same. Think about the money they've got if it is indeed true that they got 1 billion dollars for Brooklyn.
They could benefit so many needy people with proper humanitarian efforts - the homeless, the sick, children's welfare.
Yet what do they do? Fritter it away on bible literature that gets chucked in the bin and ridiculous 'bible educational centres' or whatever it is they call those developments they are building in the countryside.
Makes me sick to think about the sheer waste of time, money and effort

In all seriousness I would imagine that this will be a massive factor in young JW's feeling more and more isolated in their out of date viewpoints.
EVERYONE I know now accepts homosexuality. Kids are out at school. Famous people are out the closet and embraced.
If I were a young JW I'd feel really out of sink with the rest of society.
Looking down on or even simply 'not agreeing' with a subject or a set of people that you are completely ignorant about anyway is just silly, out of date and bigoted.

In recent months I've been viewing YouTube videos. Again, it might just be my view but there has been an increased amount of random people grabbing a camera and doing vlogs. Some are viewed by pretty low numbers. Some are morr popular. I understand how it is very easy (logistically) to participate in this kind of activism.
However, some people are coming across very badly. Extremely angry. Bitter. Challenging witnesses at the carts and making an absolute mess of it by getting angry and eventually being moved on by police, etc.
This isn't good.
It only goes to reaffirm JW's view of those who oppose their former religion and actually negates any genuine and accurate points that are raised. JW's will simply roll their eyes and move on from such material, even perhaps being put off from looking at the more reasonable and balanced videos.
I get anger. I understand it. I've experienced it. But you'll lose the argument every time by acting like a crazy, obsessed maniac.

overall the numbers are better than last year (1.8% growth compared to 1.5% last year -- as i predicted ;-) ) with an increase in all major figures including 1300 more congregations (i assume this is not physical kingdom halls?).

As for the partakers - it's utterly laughable. When I left ten years ago there were 8500 max partaking.
