  this photo (taken from a jw group on aol) is quite typical of jw marriage matches.

  don't get me wrong, i'm sure they are great people as far as jws go.

  Update on my friend - the PO called

  my friend marion has just arrived at my home, and she certainly has had an interesting few days!

  she hasn't been attending meetings lately, and on saturday the po from her hall phoned to ask why.

  actually, he had phoned several times before, and left messages, but she hasn't been replying and, in his own words, he is very concerned as to what, if anything, is wrong.. she remembers the conversation fairly well (pity she couldn't record it), and it went like this:.

  My goodness! He says he doesn't want to pry, then asks her all these nosy questions! What a truly obnoxious person! So full of himself, thinking he actually has a right to press on into her personal business. He'll force the issue. Even if she avoids the harassing loving visits and calls, they'll announce her as dead disasociated one of these days. I'm happy for her, and that she has a true friend to give her support during this time!

  two important court decisions, which came out of napa valley, ca, are now available for us to post on jwd.

  these significant rulings overturn objections regularly made by the watchtower in recent lawsuits and may serve as a precedent for future lawsuits.

  yesterday a.m. -a little knock at my front door, i answered to see a man at the end of my driveway who turned around saying "i just left an invite with your newspaper...have you read the front page news about the chopper crashes linked to drug scheme (more than 40 people arrested in major cross-border smuggling case)" i looked down at my newspaper and saw "deliverance at hand!

  " title of invitation...(cordially invited to attend) page tucked inside.

  looked back up and he was gone.

  Did you make life altering decisions because of 1975?

  i had extended family members, both with families of 7, abandon good jobs and homes in the suburbs of chicago.

  they moved to the wild outskirts of 2 separate states to protect their families from armageddon.

  they both waited for 20 years, wound up financially destitute and finally had to move and depend on other family members to recover.. it would be interesting to read the stories from those of you who went through this time period as a jw.. r.

  I was in my early mid teens in 1975, and I suffered from frequent nightmares about torture and the great tribulation. They loved to do gory speculation from the platfrom about the ways we might be tortured and tested. They rehashed methods used in Malawi, said maybe the angels would help us pass out if it got too bad, etc.

  The grim and frightened faces in the rows spoke volumes. From this board, I know lots of young kids had bad dreams and stress.

  Life altering decisions were made FOR me, by my parents. No school clubs, no college, grades weren't important, ratty clearance rack clothes were fine. Nothing mattered, because Armageddon was scheduled for fall of 1975. My dad jeopardized his good job many times, by demanding time off for ass-emblies, because he wouldn't need it much longer, anyway. My parents didn't get needed repairs done on their house because soon, they'd be living in Paradise. They're still in that house, and now it really needs repairs, but they've got little money. Armageddon didn't come, and their money is running low. List goes on and on...

  Jehovah's Witnesses Rebuttal to the U.N.-DPI NGO Affair

  i don't know if this was discussed before; i don't recall seeing this site until today when someone brought it to my attention.

  how would you answer the jehovah's witness comments (especially the one comparing the library card to a white house press pass)?

  They can always explain away their deceptions and lies by calling them "theocratic warfare." Of course, bla-bla, they still scorn the Catholic church, but made nice in front of the UN. It was theocratic warfare, see?

  Help! My "devout" JW's mom is "pioneering" at age 76 on a cane.

  posters i have tried "everything" to show my mom that the wts is full of beans but she just won't budge.

  i have heard through some non-jw's relatives that my mom who is 76 years old and having alot of problems with her knee is pioneering.

  i am so worried about her standing in front of the donut shop or supermarket at 6:00 am.

  It gets really frustrating with our elderly parents, when it reaches the point they shouldn't be doing some of these Witlessing activities, but won't slow down. Now, here we are with summer conventions, and they feel obligated to faithfully attend. Here go mine, driving into a big city every day, in heavy traffic, when Dad's driving is getting scary What a worry! He recently passed out just after arriving at the Kinkdumb Hall. If that had happened a few minutes sooner, I have no doubt both he and Mom would be dead. But, hey, they won't hear a word of it.

  Just my opinion, but... if you go, they'll ask you a lot of nosy questions, and pry into your personal business. Why would a grown man of thirty let these guys disrespect him like that? Will your fiance appreciate their intrusion into your privacy?

  the march service report shows 1,010,868 publishers.

  that is 18,136 more than the same month last year.

  with the exception of the month of august, this is also the most number of publishers reporting for any other month, ever.
