As a matter of fact I have a solar and wind power magazine upstairs that I am reading. When I build again, I hope to use some of the new technology.

To be really truthful, I am 61. If the US and general motors, ford etc would have begun developing a solar powered vehicle when I was a kid, we would be free of the need for foreign oil. BUT, until they find a way to TAX us on energy from the Sun, we won't be seeing it.

Did you know that in a square 3 feet by 3 feet in direct sunlight that the sun provides 55 horsepower!!!???

I truly don't think man is changing the climate, but agree with you that alternative sources for energy are a good idea. Not the Ethanol shit either. What a crock.

Opinion - What % of JWs are hardcore Kool Aid partakers?

the recent thread about the 1975 after effects (fall off in members) got me to thinking about the ratio of hardcore, "can't kill 'em with a stick", witnesses to the marginal, "spiritually weak", followers.

for all the backtracking and double talk old freddy caused the gb with his 1975 'vision', they learned a lot about the make up of their followers and were reassured that they have a hardcore majority base that will always be there.

my guess is it is around 80/20.

Belief doesn't hurt them or us. Compliance and support does. I see support and compliance without belief and support and compliance with belief all accomplishing the exact same thing.
I agree with GB. I don't think that more than 30% really are true dyed in the wool believers, but I think there is a huge number who do not believe and yet comply, because they either lack the strength of character to admit they have been fooled, or because they realize they have fallen for a line and don't want to deal with losing their family and friends.

In fact, I've been to THREE climate/global warming seminars in just this last semester. I attended two at UNF one at FCCJ. The science IS settled on global warming. The earth is in a warming trend, case closed zip up your fly DONE that science is settled. The science that is NOT settled is how much influence (if any) we are having on the process. Two of the scientist said, maybe some, one of the scientist said maybe, none but all THREE said; A) nobody really knows for sure B) we should STILL concentrate on lowering emissions and lowering pollution. Which is a point I reiterated before being attacked.
All this "this scientist said absolutely positively 100% _____ " is crap. REAL scientist NEVER say things like that. Any scientist who DOES say something like that is not a real scientist. Politicians, pollsters, JW's, and argumentative Fox news announcers say things like that.
That said, global warming isn't really my main concern. My real concern is water. With no water to drink it won't matter if the average temp at bumfuck, NJ is 71 degrees or 72...

Are you 100% sure that the science is settled on global warming?

i have just finished reading the book of romans and i have a question ?

a person cannot please god unless he is controlled by the spirit.

(rom 8:8,9) nor can he put to death the misdeeds of the body except by the spirit (rom 8:13) the next verse (v14) then tells us that all who are led by gods spirit are gods sons.in fact they are adopted as his children.however,according to the wts , these verses only apply to the annointed.so,my question is this.if only the annointed are led by gods spirit,whose spirit leads the "other sheep" ?

I highlighted a verse from Romans that I have always pointed to when I thought the WT was getting to big for its britches. Below the scripture is a quotation from the WT that shows they don't believe in the book of Romans.

Still, Jesus loyally supported the temple arrangement. From childhood, he attended the festivals at the temple and often taught there. BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?

i often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.

while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).

a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.

I went to bethel about 10 times in the 80's and early 90's to work in temp construction.

Laid brick or block at the wallkill farm on the e-bldg. Knew joe and sally brazil.

Underwood was one of my upper bosses. Gil Nazaroff was my boss when I worked in the Bossert basement under a guy named Joe and a younger supervisor named Mark Offit, who I really liked.

I worked on the sliver bldg outside in the winter 150 feet in the air on hanging scaffold laying bricks.

Knew Dickhead Ralph Ripley, Tim and John Lucas, a fairy named "White", and I had the horrible experience of being assigned Thomas F'in Jefferson as my table head. Up to that point in my life, (I was about 45), I had never met anyone more hateful and hypocritical than he and his wife.

I met George Smith and his wife, but when they were working in the garage.

Did anyone ever know Sam and Cherry Tate? I'd like to hear if anyone did, pm me if you can.

I worked for a Williams, who was in charge of the 360. Not too bad a guy.

Knew a Bob Ripley from the 70's Bethel. Also at Patterson as an non resident overseer. Kind of an asshole, but I liked him.

Quackenbush?--best talk I ever heard, "The Man From Nazareth".

Does anyone remember how Knorr threw him out of Bethel in the late 50's or early 60's. At the time he was editor of the Awake and Loving Brother Knorr reassigned him to a press. Quack left for years until Reverend Knorr went to his heavenly reward. (Jesus now works for him)

Does anyone remember either a JONATHAN JONES OR A THAD JONES? They are my sons and were both at Bethel in the late 80's and early 90's. Thanks be to God that Jonathan has also quit the borg. Thad is still worshipping the governing body instead of Jehovah and Jesus.
