watchtower november 15, 1962 ("subjection to 'superior authorities'why?

32 under startling symbols the last book of the bible has foretold the national groups or associations that are to exist during this time of the end from 1914 onward; for example, the devils visible earthly organization, also the british-american dual world power, and the league of nations and the united nations.(rev.
I appreciate this thread and all who have commented on it.
Early this week I had my first real conversation with a witness re: the UN deal. She told me she had read all my letters to the Society and she agree with me that the UN thing was wrong for them to get involved in.
However what she said next really astonished me, but should not have. She said that she never expected 'perfection' from the governing body, and that me and my family were just too sensitive on this matter. It was all right to be upset, but not correct to leave.
So I asked her what she did about teachings that she disagreed with, (and she did disagree vehemently about higher education, somewhat about birthdays, and finally she said that whether of not to get a blood transfusion was not anyone's business but their own). She simply stated that what she believed was her own business and that she would keep her beliefs to herself, and if she disagreed with the Society, she would do what she wanted to do. End of Story.
I walked away from the conversation confused. I thought that Witnesses actually believed the WT. My take is that for an increasing number of JW's it has become a social club, and you need to ignore the problems for the sake of having a relationship with your family and friends.
Heaven forbid that we ever actually stand up against wrong teachings and actions.

after the ambiguous response by the wts to the nbc broadcast, i would like to know how many of you had an "elder chester molester" in your own congregation?.
we had an elder that molested his daughter's best friend when she was 14 years old.
the elders in the congregation tried to keep the matter quiet and handled the matter privately.
There was a rash of pedophelia in Luling, Texas.
The PO was a homosexual pedophile and due to my bungling of the matter, got off with simple disfellowshipping. I was very experienced as an elder, but had not faced a situation where pedophelia was involved. He should have gone to prison. In my defense, this guy messed around with another elder's son, and the other elder was aware of it, but would not bring charges. At the time he was trying to become a Circuit Overseer, which he eventually did, but sacrificed his son in the meantime.
In addition, the pedophile PO had a son who was an MS, and he was a pedophile too, and active homosexual, along with his fleshly brother who was a Bethelite homosexual. This young man did go to prison on a sentence of 10 years.
We also had a non-MS homosexual pedophile that was sent to prison for 10 year sentence.
In another congregation that we went to following all of this shit, there was a Ministerial Servant that had been convicted of two violent rapes and served two years in prison. I tried to get him removed but was unable. He and his wife, she was an enabler, rented rooms out to very pretty young sisters, and no one was alarmed.
I also was made aware of the pedophile in Moberly, MO. that moved to the southern part of Missouri that was mentioned by shelly above.
Its a dirty little place, with almost no protection for kids.

i knew a little kid who got bitten pretty badly.
his parents didn't seem appalled enough to suit me.. they acted like it was a badge of honor of something.. i was chased out of a yard by a dog but didn't get bit.
i think i didn't get bit because i knew enough about dogs to get off the property and then turn and face the dog with my book bag in front of me.
I was about 26 (this was in 1971) (already and elder) and was training a young brother in the service. At a door in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, I was having a nice conversation with a householder when he asked, "What religion are you?" When I replied that we were witnesses, he pushed the screen door open into my face and when I staggered backwards, he started slugging me. As I turned and walked off, he was still hitting me in the back.
He was an old man. He didn't hurt me, and I heard later when back in the territory that he had a heart attack that day.
He was a war vet that hated the Witnesses.
Sure glad I didn't hit him back.

again it ran in the sunday edition - i hope that a few people might be 'forewarned' and thus 'forearmed' against the jw religion.
perhaps a jw or two will read it also- here was the letter:.
to the editor; on october 25 the british press was awash with the story of young emma gough from tellford, uk.
Good letter.
Straight to the point, not wordy and not mean.

so what jw doctrines do you still agree with?
how about the trinity?
do you believe in hell?
Unconfused and Mary and Junction Guy
I believe that there is no Hellfire.
The Trinity is up for grabs. The father son relationship is pretty complex, not like what humans can relate to. I have read a lot of stuff by the early church fathers regarding the substance of Christ, and 1800 years ago they couldn't figure it out either.
The NWT has a lot of trouble too with what verse to apply to God or Christ in some places, giving me the hint that they don't know either.
With regard to belief in the Bible, I want to so badly that I can't see straight, but the one thing that bothers me about it is that so many people can read it and be devoted to it, and still argue with each other about what it means and teaches.
This has caused me to wonder, If God wrote it, why didn't he make himself clear?
So, for now, I am just a lost soul.
If God would just make himself plain it would suit me. The American Indians called God something like "WATONKA", which means when translated, "Great Mystery".
I have been delivered to stupidness as a reward for knowing everything for 45 years!!!!

ok, so the may 1st wt says that elders aren't to question anyone who partakes.
but many of you have posted that they are about to rule change about the 144k... haven't they already changed the dogma if elders can't question... doesn't that mean anyone can partake?
so what changes are going to occur that are more shocking then the generation of 1935 thing and whatnot?.
They view the number 144,000 as still a literal number, but... at the annual meeting they said that they were imperfect and sometimes incorrect in their understanding (world's greatest understatement) and the comment was made as they were discussing the 144,000. My take is that they are going to change their viewpoint on the literalness of the number and call it new light.
They have to infuse the r and f with something to get everyone back on track again.
Ray Franz took the view 20 years ago that al of JW's were probably of the anointed. Maybe they are finally headed that route.
