Who REALLY controls Jehovah's Witnesses..????
by Darkside999 inlet me begin by saying i was raised in a witness household.. now that i am older i like to question things and see where they really come from.
i always found it strange that so many people would blinding think they the society has any real power or knowledge.. first of all the origins are probably evil.
as russel was a 33rd degree mason, and founed skull and bones an evil satanic cult and jehovah's witnesses?

"Deliverance at Hand" is the theme for the Jehovah's Witnesses district convention
I wonder..............does 'at hand' mean the same as 'soon'? -

"Uh-Huh" is Not "You're Welcome"
by XJW4EVR inlast weekend my son told me about the the training he is getting for his new job.
he said that he is required to watch customer service videos, and in one of the videos there was a segment that told people to say, "you're welcome," and not, "uh-huh.".
this made me realize just how bad mannered some people have become, especially in the customer service realm.

I have noticed lately that when I thank someone (usually for doing their job, like bagging my groceries) they say, "No problem."
WTF?
I think that 'no problem' has come to mean the equivalent of "you're welcome." But it doesn't feel the same at all.

Let's Decorate the Kingdom Hall!
by Nosferatu inone thing that always sucked about the kingdom hall was it's blandness.
bland wallpaper, bland paint, no pictures, no windows, maybe a fake plant or fake flowers, the big sign with the years text, the cork board, and contribution boxes.
boring.. what would you put into a kingdom hall to make it look more interesting?

Some secular reading material, coffee-table books would be nice, just in case the talk gets b-o-r-i-n-g..........................
I wonder how the KH re-decorating committee would feel about using a feng-shui consultant?

How do you deal with death now
by unique1 ini must say, it was easier being a jw, believing that i would in fact be resurrected to a paradise earth and having the faith that would definitely happen.
i still believe in the bible to the extent that i believe jesus led a good life and if we follow his example we will lead one to.
however, the bible was written by men, who are imperfect and therefore i don't feel we can take the entire book at face value as truth.

Good news: I fear death less the older I get.
After I left the organization, and after much rumination, reading and letting it all simmer on a backburner, I had a light bulb moment:
Death is part of life.
For some reason, this thought took away some of my fear of dying. Maybe because it is the one thing about death that we know for absolutely sure.

Disfellowhipping material? How about just - not Witness material?
Anyhoo, I think some of us are using a sledgehammer to swat a fly. Which is ok if you enjoy it, and of course that is often the fun with trolls. However, I don't see Darcy as an apologist. I can tell by checking my blood pressure and so far she hasn't caused it to spike.
She a is obviously a young, free-thinking person on a journey of discovery and going about it in a pretty healthy, intelligent way. While no one knows her ultimate destination, I would bet serious money where it isn't - DubLand.

usually because the elders are lax.
So the FDS is serving up the Ex-lax.
I think this is a pre-emptive strike - they're scrambling to effect some damage control. "Murmurers" (whatever that is - Christ a'mighty!) are going to be gone after in a big way - everybody is deputized, maybe even wired up - murmurers will be made an example of - no more Mr. Nice Guy! You R & F are out there just having a great old time, bitchin' about the GB - well, the party's over, Pilgrims! Dance! Too bad they don't have the Duke to deliver the message..........

Insane religious banter!
by free2beme in"he will kill the wicked" ... "jesus is coming to bring down the unrighteous" ... "you shall know his wrath" .... "you will burn in hell!".
my father had a renter in one of his houses, who was a whacked out christian.
when she moved out, she wrote these kinds of things all over the walls and we had to repaint the entire house to get it cleaned up.

if the King James Bible was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me!
LOL!
