IMO Mary, your friend needs to see the complete picture here. His family and so called friends know that he doesn't believe. So most likely the elders are aware of this and probably view him as an apostate, in which case it would take him a long time to get reinstated. One must be true to Oneself. The real question would be, How would God view someone living a lie? In the bible there are 7 things it says that God hates, and one of them is a lier. IMO to do this is to lower oneself to the same level as the WTS. They live a lie daily. I myself could not live a lie. But I do hope and wish the best for your friend. Good luck to him.

I for one don't mind confrontation, as a matter of fact I have instigated it on several occasions. I guess you can call me a hard core "apostate" for a lack of words. When the PO in my congregation told me that it was OK to lie as long as it wasn't malicious, I lost it. He then lied to me when he said that he and the CO would come over my house and look at the info I had on the Mexico/Malawi scandal. They never showed. After many months of not going to meetings, 2 elders cornered me at a gas station in town while I was pumping gas. That was a HUGE mistake on their part. In front of other patrons I let them have a piece of my mind. The PO still had no answer to my question as to why he and the CO never showed up. All they were concerned with was the fact that I was visiting so called Apostate websites. I have never in my life backed down to anybody. NEVER. and never will. I wish all disputes could be handled in public. Probably never will though. OH well, I'm out now and feel better than ever.

in sept. km under announcements, loving provision from jehovah, elders are being reminded to make the yearly visit to all those that have been df or da.. make sure you have some good coffee or a six pack for them.. treat them kindly and with respect, the gb is very much interested in all those that they kicked out.

i once had a demonstration on a circuit assembly about not going to parties with worldly people (yeck when i think of it, i basically told all: he dont have fun or jehovah is going to kill you)'.

anyway the demonstration ended that it was better to do nice recreation things.

Yes AuldSoul is right Danny, the Society has compared it to war games. My older brother and I have always enjoyed chess. He is a Master chess player with a rating over 2300. He was New Haven, Conn. Chess Champion several times.

Chess takes quite a bit of thinking ability as you know. Maybe that's why the Society has so much against this game, cause it gets ones thinking ability going.

My brother and I are no longer witnesses. Think the game of Chess had anything to do with it? Could be.

some years ago my brother was disfellowshipped.

not for apostasy, but for more mundane reasons.

he has not had the internet, he has not studied the bible much since being disfellowshipped, he has been feeling guilty and considering returning for the last six months.. i had no way of contacting him, having lost touch in the midst of his many moves.

i came home today to find my wife crying whilst reading the 'when a loved one leaves jehovah' article.

its been a good few months now and i can appreciate how she feels.

but it just irritates me how my disagreeing with this religion has such a catastrophic effect on our everyday lives.

Hey man, I can relate completely to how you are being treated. As a matter of fact, just tonight while the family and I were having supper, my youngest daughter asked me if it would be OK if she went to visit a friend of hers in Vermont. ( I live in New York ). After a while I asked my daughter if her friend could come and stay with us for a while. The response was that they are witnesses. ( My daughter has a "worldly friend" who's parents have NO problem with their daughter staying the night here.) So I said " Its because they are witnesses and I am disassociated". Well have you know I am not one to be disrespected. I said whats good for one is good for the other. If her parents wont let their daughter sleep over here, then I wont let my daughter go over there. I will not bow down to the WTS shunning games. I believe in equal rights. And I am quite vocal about it too. If they are going to treat me like a piece of sh-t, then they better get ready to be treated like a piece of sh-t too. Hope all goes well with you.

Society letter read to all congregations July 28,2006 !!

i got news of this from the jw grape vine today that at the meeting on thursday(yesterday) there was a letter read to all the congregations from the society.

for the first time the society says in the letter to prepare for great tribulation and to have plenty of emergency supplies in case of a disaster.

this has shaken the up the jws it seems.
