Are you supposed to enjoy field service????

i hated service, hated getting up early, hated wearing dresses/skirts,hated bugging people early on the weekend, hated "preparing" for service (all i did was read the little blurb on the inside of the awake lol) hated being grouped with elder ihatecoffeebreaks and sister letsdoonemoredooreventhoughits12.......one day brother ihatecoffeebreaks asked me why my time was dropping in service and i said "because i hate service" ( i mean i was taught to be honest right?

JWs and depression

it seems that there is a high rate of depression amongst jws.
does the jw religion cause depression, or are depressed people drawn to the jws?.

I always blamed my depression on my job, It was not till I left the borg that I realized that's what caused the depression.

The WT is always jealous of the Red Cross. The Red Cross is always there to help all in need without asking their religious affiliation, without loking for repayment.The WT could learn a lesson from the Red Cross. However we know they are too proud and haughty for that.

Circuit Overseer Celebrities?
by Delboy222 ini am a active jw, but one question i would like to know is why do these 'men' get treated as superstar celebrities when they attend the congregation?.
for as long as i can remember, there seems to be a 'buzz of excitement' when it is announced that he and his wife are due to visit.
what is so special about them?.

why cant you just leave???
by kid-A inwhat always strikes here on jwd is the number of posters who completely and entirely doubt the jw theology, reject the majority of the teachings and "rules", express their boredom and frustration at having to attend meetings and conventions and yet, still, continue to keep up the facade of attending the meetings, going out in service, essentially choosing to 'live a lie'...... now, i understand fully the complications around leaving such an organization especially concerning family, but, for gods sake people, it would take the most extreme, extraordinary circumstances to keep somebody inside a duplicitous, controlling cult when at any time, you do have the freedom to just walk away.......we are all free moral agents capable of escaping the wts so i humbly ask, .
1) how and why do you keep up the facade?
do your circumstances really justify lying to yourself and family?.

I would recommend fading over df.ing or da.ing. Much less painful if you have family in. If I had it to do over again that would be my choice. But all cases are different.

I'm going to Ste. Catharines, Ontario in February

i don't know what my schedule will be just yet; probably will go to buffalo for a day.
i'll be there during the week february 7-10 (we'll be taking the train together back to quebec on friday).. would be cool if schedules permitted me to meet up with some fellow 'postates!.

Judgement
by sass_my_frass ini'd like to know if there's any bible quote supporting the jw practice of judging people now.
i've read a lot of 'judge not lest ye be judged' stuff, and i thought that the one doing the judgment was god, on judgment day, and in the meantime we're just doing our best.

Being in for 40 years I think every J.W. is a self appointed judge. They expect everyone to be a robot for the WT. They do not think that everyone has a personality of their own. My family members still in judge me everyday by being robot shunners.
