They are a dying cult. They are trying to change tactics. It's desperation. They know they are not getting enough new people to join. I've seen people post on here that there was 1 or 2 baptisms at a convention of over 1,000. And, they were young kids of JWs.

Today's WT study (10/12/14) - a sales seminar!
by OneEyedJoe inthis cult is getting really shameless.
the wt study was always supposed to be for discussion of 'the deep truths' of the bible.
the wt may have always been filled with utter nonsense, but at least it had the appearance of a topical discussion of bible doctrine.

I think I've finally been disfellowshipped
by Godsendconspirator init wasn't my preferred method of leaving but at least i'm as far as i can be from this cult.
over 2 years ago i've tried to fade out but i guess i did it too drastically.
i live in nyc so the entire territory is walkable and everybody in the congregation live pretty close by.

I'm ok with a man wearing a watch and his wedding band. Anything beyond that, looks cheesy, tacky, and low class. Like a Calvin & Hobbs pissing sticker type of low class. Like a leisure suit and white platform shoes. Like a hairpiece or a combover. It's like a stupid union boss, gets a second riiing. Two gold rings are just IIIIIIICK. If you have money, buy a really nice watch and leave it at that, ok?

Super creepy!
They need to get a good celebrity front, like Tom Cruise. Perhaps Prince could to it. LOL

Every washed up or narrow interest group has a streaming tv channel. Herman Cain, Sarah Palin, Paula Deen, Ice skaters . . .all for about $10/month per subscriber.

New JW TV will be the best thing ever for apostates! Do you agree?
by Wasanelder Once inhere's my prediction; the gov body giving regular talks will come across as crazy ass idiots.
this will strengthen the opposition and give something to refer too that is concrete evidence of crazy town in the jw headquarters.
there will be screen captures and clips that will be used all the time on youtube accounts to show the ttatt.

Remember when the piano players were banned? Why? Borg didn't want "glory" given to one person in the congregation. In every congregation I attended, we had a female piano player. It was a bright spot, to have live music. Oh, but the Governing Body thought dronned in elevator music was better to sing to.
My theory is that some elder's wife didn't like the piano player because she was envious. Perhaps the pianist was hot. Perhaps it was the 4 minutes of glory that the elder's wife hated. So, the elder had some pull and stopped the pianists. Likewise, letting a female talk directly to the screen... no way. Perhaps as a Bible Study as done in the Theocratic Ministry, maybe. Or, showing a woman washing the dishes or accompanying her husband and neatly dressed JW family to the KH, yes.
JWs don't like popular, thought provoking women. See Barbara Anderson.

The old, lonely JWs are going to eat this up. It speaks to their generation.
The young ones (Seseme Street generation & younger - post 1965 born) are going to see this as very poor quality. They need good information, and fast. They will find google/news more informative.
The smarter ones, this is going to be an embarrasment. You don't want to send your "smart" friends to the JW tv channel becuase it is presented on a 3rd grade level. But, that's also how the magazines are presented, and incude misquotes and fallacies.
Non-JWs are not going to be swayed by the tv channel. They don't like JWs and when they see this boring dribble, they will not be interested.
The JWs will remain a stale, dying religion. They are run by old people, who are very rigid in their marketing. It's like K-Mart, they were toppled by Target becuase Target stays fresh & young. It's kind of like the fundamental mormons, who will not change their dress from the 1800's. Everyone sees them as cultish becuase of it. Same thing here. Boring dribble.

TV.JW.Org - WTF is Wrong With This Guy? - CAPTION THEM
by passwordprotected ini've heard about his bombastic, overly patronising, cartoon-ish delivery before, but i'd never actually seen it...until now.
and i should add, this religion bears little to no relation to the one i left 6 years ago.. .
