I have not been here for a while and just heard the news via facebook. I am SO sorry to Clare and Family. As so many have said, Ian was the sort of person who touched the life of everyone he met, I had the pleasure of meeting him at the curry he organised in Manchester and he made an effort to keep in touch with me afterwards as he knew I was struggling at the time. He was relentlessly positive in the face of his awful illness. I know he will be deeply missed. RIP Ian, if I believed in heaven, I'm sure you'd be at the head of the queue, there are few better people in the world. Jilly and family.

But if that doesn't work, this is the copied and pasted version
A 23-year-old man, believed to be their daughter's former boyfriend, was arrested yesterday in an armed police swoop after the brutal slaying.
Adam Hustler, 41, died in hospital after an attacker opened fire with a hunting rifle at the Jehovah's Witness couple's detached house in a Cornwall hamlet.
His wife Amanda, 40, was shot twice in the back as she tried to flee after her husband was gunned down. Details of her condition remained unknown.
The man in custody, thought to have been in a relationship with the couple's 19-year-old daughter Danielle, was also being treated in hospital for head injuries understood to be self-inflicted.
Danielle, who was in the house at the time of the shootings, was unharmed and helping detectives as a witness to the terrible attack.
Her younger sister Abigail, 16, also escaped the bloodshed while at their seven-bedroom, s500,000 home.
Armed police were deployed after the traumatised sisters made a frantic 999 call just before 10pm on Saturday after the shootings at Porth Kea House, in Porth Kea, near Truro.
In an operation involving dozens of officers, including trained negotiators, the suspect was arrested at about 5am yesterday at his home in Penzance.
Porth Kea is a hamlet of around 20 houses close to the banks of the River Fal in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Neighbours were still coming to terms with the tragedy last night after the road through the village was sealed off by police as inquiries into the shootings continued.
Local councillor Tomas Hill said: "Adam had just moved into Porth Kea House and was renovating every last part of it.
"It is one of the safest and most desirable places in Cornwall so for something like this to happen is a complete shock. For somebody to do this there must be something wrong with them in the head, they must be ill or sick."
A statement on behalf of the family, released by a friend yesterday, described Mr Hustler, who ran local drain clearance firm Clear-Flow, as "a loving husband and father".
Fellow Jehovah's Witness Tim Mears said: "The family have asked me to say that they are very shocked by these terrible and very unexpected events.
"Friends and family are providing loving support and comforting those affected. Our thoughts and prayers are with Amanda and her two daughters at this most difficult time.
"Adam Hustler was a loving husband and father.
"He was a generous and caring person who thought the world of his wife and daughters.
"He was thoughtful and always ready to help and support others when they needed help.
"He is a great loss to all who knew him, and especially those that shared his Christian values."
Mrs Hustler has been transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth but no update on her condition had been released by police last night.
DEVOTED AWAITING A BATTLE WITH EVIL
The Jehovah's Witness movement began in America towards the end of the 19th century.
Followers are best-known for their door-to-door preaching of their religion, which includes the belief that humanity is in its "last days" and a final battle between good and evil will be fought soon.
The movement, founded under the leadership of Charles Taze Russell, believes the traditional Christian churches have deviated from the true teachings of the Bible.
Witnesses do not celebrate Christmas or Easter because they believe those festivals are based on pagan customs and religions. They point out Jesus did not ask his followers to mark his birthday.
Estimates suggest there are about 6.9 million active followers in 235 countries, including a million in the USA and around 130,000 in the UK.

anyone got any info of c/o's in the uk ?
a small list etc?.
I think you guys were in a different UK to me!
I remember Brent Smith, he had a big impact on me when I was a teenager I thought he was the biz, very charismatic. Wife Jean
Richard Cullen (now if anyone wins the closet gayness test it had to be him) wife Morna I think. Liked him tho, funny.
We had Anthony Kendall, now there's a guy who could make you yawn, no wonder nobody remembered his name.
Cant remember the guy they have now, but his wife is Sue, very typical CO wife, small, dark and quiet, lovely long tartan skirts..
I used to hate the CO visit all that falseness and people chasing you around with clipboards to get you to either make dinner or take wifey on your calls. Latterly we had a couple of CO sheperding calls, you know it's bad when.....

one day, i was with my grandma and she asked me what my dreams (for the future) were.. i told her i'd like to be in band because i love listening to, and making music.
plus, it'd be great if i could earn some good money with it.. she some how got the nerve to say,.
"no, i mean a realistic dream.".
I'd like it if you could be in a successful band too cos then you could look after me in my old age :)

the watchtower meeting (this congregation meets on sat) that i just listened to via phone conference was cut 10 minutes short to have a letter read to all the congregation.
here are the highlights:.
- the governing body realizes that the pressures of this system of things are getting heavier on his people.. - just like the governing body of the 1st century, we do not want to add additional burden to you either.
My boys have just come back from the meeting in very high spirits because of this announcement.lol
I imagine to the Rank and file this is going to be a huge relief. I wonder how many of them actually will use the time for family study.
I think it's great news, especially for those of us in 'divided' households!

this morning i had a 40 min phone conversation with my ex husband because i spoke with my 15 year old son on wednesday about the inaccuracies of the jw belief system he has been raised with by his dad.
obviously ex husband is not happy about this.
the one thing he kept saying is that even if it is wrong it is not a bad way to live your life............what would you say to this?.
((((Fi)))) You know I get what you're going through, I have asked myself that question about is it such a bad life. Well No, there are worse paths to choose. But given the option I think you've told me you wish you'd never been baptised, etc. I certainly do.
I think the huge things are lack of education, lack of choice of a career you might actually enjoy. Marrying someone cos you want to have sex and rushing through the 'are we right for each other' part. And the negative and judgemental attitude. And dont get me started on birthdays!
BUT I think you should take the weight and guilt off your shoulders, you are not making these decisions for your son, all you are doing is what any GOOD parent would do, giving him the information and the choice, What a lucky boy. I would say dont push, give him a little, then step back, let him think, carry on as before.
As to the EX, sometimes they forget that we are 50% of the parenting, and why should we sit by and allow them to only give our children one point of view.
Your a fantastic caring, loving, giving person and mother, in time your son will appreciate that. Just keep doing what you're doing!

( one recent post indicated this 90% figure) .
i don't wish to debate the pro's and con's of atheism, just help me understand your personal.
reasonings for this huge difference in figures.
I personally feel (no science involved!) that it's about 50/50 on this board. And I feel that figure of Atheists would be much higher than the general population because to have been a witless and now not be requires determination, intelligence and a very questioning mind. This leads a lot to reason there is no god.
Personally I have followed the typical route of Christian - Agnostic and now I'm leaning towards Atheism, but also quite like the Deism belief, Which accepts 'God' may have started things off, but now has no interest in what goes on here.

well here i am having a bible study at my home and the doorbell rings, the door opens and closes, i hear a few voices.
she comes back and hands me the march 1 watchtower, march 8 awake and a invitation to the memorial on march 22, 2008 and a special talk to" who is qualified to rule mankind?
" on april 6, 2008.. so did you get yours?.
I do think it's a sign of how far gone you're considered to be! First year I got an invite, and strangely went, I dont know why, second year I got an invite, but did not go, This year the family haven't even mentioned it, Guess they've finally realised I'm not just 'Weak' I'm Wicked!

Did wake me up, me and the dog were a bit disturbed, but the kids slept right through. Nothing fell off or over, did make me think what it must be like to live through a real one though!
Got a text from my JW ex... "bet you thought that was Armageddon"
It made me smile, cos actually the thought never crossed my mind, think I'm finally deprogrammed! I replied
: "Lol. Glad I dont have to live with that fear anymore "
That was the end of that conversation!
