OK, theocrat. If you can't be serious, I will just have to ask scholar.
Ask old Neb how his boy Evil-Merodach-Knievel is doing.
im trying to figure something out concerning the wts 607-1914 chronology that has me confused.
i thought they based the chronology on when jerusalem was destroyed.
however, the following is taken from the daniel book and it seems to base it on something else.

a rumor alert indeed, but it could be related to the distribution of kingdom news no.37, "false religions end is near.".
the following is posted from e-watchman's forum.. make of it what you will, but in light of all the rhetoric about "deliverance at hand" and "independent thinking", nothing would surprise me anymore.. http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1502&st=0 we posted about an announcement it was only local to our cong.
however we have found out that there is going to be an announcement sometime in september and it is supposed to be shocking.
So, if they really are to reign for the full 1000 years, - WT chronology is upon the horns of a dilemmna:
There are just too many of the annointed around to expect the end this year. They are also not dissapearing fast enough for it to occur withing several years.
On the other hand, they probably want to have some new annointed around to validate the new GB members. These young ones, needed to keep the GB non-senile as a whole, have to be young enough to last for quite a while.
That's why my logic would say that maybe they should think about dumping the obvious ritual count of this embarrasing number at memorial.
But, I know I am underestimating their ego and stubbornness to be held as special ones.

Say, theocrat - what year did Nebuchadnezzer die?

If I were in the mess the GB made for themselves after "Generation" and "all annointed must not die before the end", then...
I believe that if I wanted to do a "shocking announcement" in September - I would state the case that all witnesses should partake of the emblems, so that they would no longer need to count up the annointed.
Not a prophecy, of course - just my take on a way to weasel out of a trap.
if one of the annointed disagrees with current thoughts does the gb say, well, they mustnt be annointed?
is anointed status simply another matter of 'the slaves opinion' ?
how does someone get to be an "annointed" anyway ?
At one point we were (at least locally) taught that if an "annointed" DAs or got DFd, then his "place" was held until the bad annointed person actually died "out of the faith". Then, the empty slot in the 144,000 could be filled. The idea presented was that unless they had committed the "unforgiveable sin", they might someday repent and get their place back.
I never really got a good handle on what that "unforgiveable sin" really was, though...
do you think they might really believe that?
I think that there is pretty compelling evidence that they started to deliberately back-pedal on 1975 for a year or so before the fact.
I always suspected that there was a cynical exploitation of this date frenzy, and a last minute push to get people ready for the idea that nothing at all might happen.
And, of course, the self-serving BS that the rank&file made the whole thing up themselves...
I would lay odds that the inner core government is every bit as cynical today - after all, they are manipulating properties and workforce as if they have plans years down the road. I'll further say that even if no references are made officially, 2014 will be an improtant psychological milestone for a lot of the ranks - just as Y2K was for the ordinary public. And I'll bet the real movers and shakers of the GB could care less about it.
knock, knock, who's there?
no jehovah's witnesses or double ...

In my previous little thread on "neo Green River Ordinance" here in the USA - I got called a namby pamby weenie liberal (so to speak) by poster KWR from West Virginia because I strongly support such measures. Specifically: (and I quote) -
With the three subjects you listed it seems you have a problem with the Constutition (sic) of the United States. You could always immigrate to a nanny state like the UK.
I interpret the Constitution of the United States to strongly support the right of law-abiding citizens to own and enjoy private property with the freedom from unwanted interruption all the hours of the day and night. The three subjects of reference were police breaking open a homeowners door without knocking, the use of eminent domain to seize private property for commercial purposes (like a shopping mall), and the stubborn upholding of the right of religious and political nutcase solicitors to knock on doors without regulation. These were the subject of recent rulings of the supreme court with which I disagree, and apparantly poster KWR approves of them all.
There is also the obvious public safety issue, as highlighted by Danny. Several murders have been precipitated by phony door-to-door salesmen. The WT society even opposes lawful registration of door-to-door solicitors.
Maybe the UK does have this one right!
I have visited Scotland, and I liked it. They of course pour their fine scotch without sufficient ice, but at least they give a man a full measure, unlike the public houses of London. Their ladies are good looking, too - in those long black outfits. (at least when I was there in about 1990).

Back in the years 1975 up to the apostacy of 1981, there were several homosexual scandals at Bethel.
One of the governing body was eventually sent away over this issue. One of the presidents of the society was under suspicion.
The euphamisms for the expelling and disfellowshipping (only newbie bethelites actually paid the penalty by DF) - were unbelievable.
They ran the gamut from "covetousness" to "idolatry". The real cause was never spoken, even in secrecy.
Probably someone who was at Bethel at the time will know who and what I am reporting.

But the breastplate of the high priest's ephod with its 12 precious superstitious tribal stones was OK, as were the holy Jewish dice...
Come on baby, roll them bones - baby needs new shoes...
i think that i only know of 1 guy that i grew up with that was da'd for going to the army.
is this an isolated case or is it a common problem among young jw's men and women going to the military and being df or da?
This is going to be a "names have been changed to protect the innocent" story -
Many years ago, I was aware of a young guy who served in Bethel to get out of the draft. ( In the day of VietNam, depending on your draft board, you might pull a ministerial deferment for either Bethel or Special Pioneer, mainly because you were technically a paid clergyman...even if the "pay" was about $12.00 per month. As I recall, regular pioneer usually would not hack it, because it was considered unpaid voluntary work. )
Anyhow, after the Nixon lottery system he gets an automatic out because, like me, he drew a really good birthday number.
So, he pulls out of the hated Bethel service and heads back to the promised land of his native California (or wherever). Homeboy is no longer quite so welcome in the old congregation - some people just did not buy into this little facade. He bums around for a while, ends up with worldly GF, plays around at the yacht club as a wannabe boat polisher, and drifts away from da-truth.
Ends up joining the Coast Guard! - KaBam - letter gets read as soon as they found out about him.
