Happy birthday
I hope you have a wonderful day
i've just had a telephone conversation with my wife about 1/2 an hour ago.
we have had a visit from the local jw's this morning.
from the upstairs window my wife conducted a brief conversation where she basically told them thst she wasnt the best person to speak to, as her husband used to be a jw.
Paul, don't get into any kind of discussion with them, it's pointless. When I sent my da letter a few months ago, the two elders who came to see me asked me what caused me to fall away from the truth. I just said you have to be in something to leave it, and I was never in the truth, no jws are, it's all bullshit. They wanted to argue that one, but I just said goodbye, don't come back and closed the door. They got the message and left. Keep it short and sweet (optional) and get rid of them.
last saturday, me and a friend from the hall decided to go to nc state fair together.
i have been told that the state fair is not a big deal in other areas of the country, but here in these parts, it means alot to us, expecially since we live in/near the capital city.
about the friend: he's a year younger than me, and we go to the same school.
Great stuff Richie, you are a top man
just wondering if this happened to any of you.
did you ever go to the service group and be assigned to the different car groups.....and then....the sister that is assigned to go with you...decline and say...'i am just going by myself today and do my return vistits by myself'..... damn, i should have complained about that one!
it was very rude!
Hi Tyrone, why are you so angry? You have to appreciate that many on this board are ex -jws who were badly hurt by this "loving" organisation that you are obviously still very much a part of. Being on a site like this has helped many on the road to recovery, myself included. Many of us felt like you do about the watchtower once, but the fact that we do not feel that way any longer does not make us evil or apostate, as you imply. Personally, I have not joined another religion, 13 years in the wt was more than enough for me.
If you wish to post on this board, you will be made welcome, but don't expect too many kind words about the wt from the majority of posters.
is anyone following the bird flu reports?
the government in britain are officially preparing for 50,000 deaths in britain and unofficially 750,000.. .
we have ordered vaccines but we are low down on the list for vaccines in europe because our government placed the order late.
Yes I have been following the bird flu reports. Let's hope it doesn't get here, but if it does it'll be devastating, we just never seem prepared for anything in this country
i just had a visit from my sister friend from my former cong, one of the few who still speaks to me.
the elders have been counselling her against having any contact with me, but she has chosen to ignore them.
after the school and service meeting last week, they took her on one side and really laid the law down regarding contact with me, even threatening a reproof if she continued our friendship.
She was pretty upset by this, to say the least, when she phoned me later that night, and I told her there would be no hard feelings from me if she chose to obey the elders. However, she has chosen to ignore the elders, and has decided to take a short "rest" from meetings. She didn't go to last Thursday's book study, or yesterday, and she told me she isn't going tomorrow either, and probably not for a couple of weeks. It kind of reminds me of when I decided to take a rest from meetings, I never went back! I got the impression from talking to her just now that she is beginning to have some serious doubts about the wt, not enough to quit altogether maybe, but her faith in the borg has been shaken, that's for sure. I would love to encourage her to continue taking what could be the first few steps on the road to freedom, but decided to keep quiet and let her talk on this occasion. She also told me that I'd been the subject of nasty gossip in the past, just after I left, and this upset her, and the elders had really painted a bad picture of me when they spoke to her last week, especially when she remarked that I seemed happier now than I ever was in the borg. I got the impression she sort of envies my carefree lifestyle nowadays, compared to the bs she has had to put up with of late.
I am not sure really how to play this at the moment, if she is thinking of leaving the borg then I will help and encourage her in any way I can, but I don't want to push too hard for fear of pushing her back in. I would be thrilled to be the instigator of another one breaking free though, far more than I ever was getting someone to study with me when I was a dub. I told her I will be there for her whenever she needs me, and encouraged her to look on this board when she can. She does not have the internet at home but gets limited access at work. I told her she is welcome to come here and take a look when I am in, and she may do that. If and when that happens, I will let you all know she's here.
Just keep your fingers crossed for me, and her, and I'll keep you all updated on how things progress.
hubby had a loud confrontation with the elders last week.
by pure coincidence we ran in to a few jw's this weekend while walking the dog.
the first family welcomed us with warm christian hospitality.
How did the dog respond? Did he bark "praise jah" in response?
She sounds one wierd lady
i was wondering how people express their new freedom and how they create new boundaries.
what i mean, is when i left the witnesses and became someone without their rules, i did not go out and do all the things i was forbidden to do before.
i did not take up drugs, sleep around, etc.
I guess I haven't changed much since I left, I just celebrate Christmas and birthdays now, and socialise with my pre - jw friends again, listen to music and watch tv that would have been disapproved of when I was a dub. Most jws ignore me now anyway, but I try to show the odd few that do still speak that I am happier now that I am free of the borg than I ever really was while I was in.
ok kids, here is an update if you love marching band competitions.. my 15 year old percussionist (girl) led her band to:.
