Have you become the 'Pagan' that you thought you would?
by AK - Jeff ini mean - when we were witnesses we always thought that is what one who 'leaves jehovah' does - goes right out and becomes evil incarnate.
or do you live a life similar to what you did as a witness?
on a scale of 1-10, how wicked would you be considered if the witnesses were making the call on your current lifestyle ?

Thanks for that Blondie, good post. Strange thing though, I had a feeling of deja vu when I read it, like I've seen it all before, and I haven't read a wt in years, let alone studies one at a kh.

OMG - Part 18 of my exit story EXPLODES !!!
by Amazing1914 ini am in the middle of publishing my book on my exit from the jws.
it is still hosted on freeminds, but is undergoing revision to clean up grammar, spelling, split a couple of chapters and add a couple of chapters.
i will also be adding an appendix of correspondence with the watchtower society.

All the best with the book, Jim. I look forward to reading it, and as for the story about the overseer, I can't say I'm surprised.

Would you go back?
by Stress Free inwhen i was an active witness it was quite noticeable that when world shattering events took place, such as a disaster, tensions between major nations, war in iraq or events like that of 9/11 the meeting attendance would drastically improve.
this was mainly due to ones whom you rarely saw flocking back because they thought armageddon was coming.
what if this almost impossible scenario occurred.

When Did You Realize That You REALLY Were Going To Die?
by minimus inand not live forever on paradise earth?
-
dedpoet
I never really believed that I wouldn't die, as much as I wanted to, I always had doubts about the reality of that "promise". The scriptures used to "support" it always seemed to be somewhat taken out of context to me, but at the time I wanted to be a good dub and didn't really question anything, but I can't remember the idea of not having to die ever being totally real to me

My story of abuse and disappointment.
by ackack ini was raised in as a jw, and got batpz at 16. i started pioneer at 18 and got married when i was 21. i was made an ms at 22, and was soon giving many parts.. my brother who was also a pioneer, eventually stopped, even stopped going to meetings.
he placed a doubt in my mind about 607. he simply told me to look at the kingdom come book appendix.. i looked at the material and was ablt to rationalize it in my mind as secular vs. biblical chronology (which is a gross oversimplification).
as well, i knew some things being done within the orginization didn't sit very well with me.

Welcome to the board Ackack, and thanks for sharing. Just remember, whatever has gone before, you will always get support and help here.

They aren't making much effort to bring me back, and I'm glad !!!
by JH ini've been inactive for many years, but last march an elder came over to invite me to the memorial.
after that he came back and offered a bible study, which i didn't want but stupidly i accepted because i felt kind of pressured, thinking that if i didn't i would be maybe df'd for some reason.
so, i studied about half of the book with the elder, once a week, and went to a few meetings.

how much money did you give the borg???
by kid-A injust curious....because i left before being baptized, my parents handled all the donations and i never gave them a penny.
how many posters on this board actually gave large or not so large sums of money to the jws, either directly, or as 'gifts' to pioneers, cos, etc??
?
-
dedpoet
Too much. Even one pence, and I gave far more than that, would have been more than they were worth

JWs are not a cult................
by vitty in...............or so i thought.
when you were an active jw, how did you feel when ppl accused you of being a cult !!!!!!!!!
and do you think its a cult now your out ?
-
dedpoet
When I was in i would never have accepted that i was part of a cult, although many of my friends and family outside the borg told me i was. It's only when you leave and start looking at the teachings objectively that you realise how much of a cult the borg really is.
