I just picked up on CNN the case of Abraham Cherrix, a 16-year-old suffering from Hodgkin's disease, who has refused chemotherapy and radiation treatments ordered by his oncologist in favor of an herbal remedy prescribed by a Mexican clinic. I don't see any references on him being a JW. But it made me wonder. Has anyone else seen anything on this? I'm sure the Legal Department is watching this one even if he is not a JW.

The Judicial Committee Has Been Formed
by LennyinBluemont inwell, the hard, rusty gears of theocratic justice has begun to turn, and the teeth have caught me.
for those of you who read my earlier threads, in february of 2005, a "sister" i had known for almost 30 years contacted me and wanted to know what i had learned in the years since i had faded.
after granting me full assurance of confidentiality, in writing, i disclosed to her the un scandal.

An interesting idea Elsewhere. On a related issue, when my spouse and I sought couples therapy, the JWs became a main topic of conversation. I spoke so much about the culture of squealing that we have that our therapist specially told my spouse that our conversations in therapy were strictly confidential and that that standard applied not just to him but us as well. I'm not sure if the therapist was speaking about legal confidentiality but it seemed to me at the time like he may have been.

Love? We Don't Need No Stinkin' Love! (8/15 WT)
by metatron inthe latest watchtower magazine asks "are we living in the "last days"?.
now, given that the "last days" are supposed to be a time of .
suffering, horror and death, it might be refreshing to find a source of real love and kindness in the world.

JWs are full of love, for the organization that is. There is room for very little else.

I would say around 30% of the publishers in my current congregation are mentally unstable. And at 10% are on some kind of psychotropic drug.

A good friend who knows Jaracz tells me that the moment one comes into his presence one can feel the coldness coming from him. He tends to project harshness and firmness. It is interesting hearing this person describe Br. Jaracz since this individual likes him. Imagine what his enemies say....

FAITHFUL AND DISCREET SLAVE vs GOVERNING BODY
by plmkrzy ini copied this from wikipedia so i hope the pic of the chart shows up.
it is interesting to read things about the religion in a completely unbiased format.
it puts things/sheds light in a more simplified manor.

One year I had to make the report for our congregation to Service on Memorial partakers. I was shocked when I saw the little pink card I had to fill out. All they asked for was a number! No names, no addresses. Further the decision on who to count was up to non-anointed elders! In fact that year a brother in our Hall partook. A few of us elders, two or three, huddled right after the Memorial to decide on whether he would get counted. I remembered this incident a few years later when I read ISOCF. The Governing doesn't care who is anointed since they do what they want. The FDS is to me the BIGGEST lie they have ever perpetrated.

Somebody should let them know that there is no faithful slave. The GB is it.

Its amazing with these cults, there is a public face for the public and the reality which they work hard not to show. You see that in this article. And yet there are signs of just how strange this religion can be. For example, the JW quoted here says that his friendships with ex-JWs cool because they have left his best friend Jehovah. Strange that one abandons real human friendships for a one way relationship with an invisible being. There is also I believe a dishonesty inherent in the fact that a PO and his son, one of which holds a college degree are interviewed. This is not representative of the average JW now is it?

REALLY, Why Do People Remain Jehovah's Witnesses???
by minimus ini think it's all about fear.
they are always afraid of displeasing jehovah god, the elders, the circuit overseer.
witnesses are always walking on eggshells, hoping that they'll be good enough to make it thru the great tribulation.

I would also have to say fear for many. Though what is feared is different for different people. I know some who are afraid of having to make a whole new set of friends out in 'the world.' I also find that because of the convoluted reasoning WT uses there are JWs who don't really understand the doctrine. Particularly the crazy stuff like 'present truth' and the 'faithful slave.' Many of those are in it for the association and for their version of the belief system. Though that seems to work to the WT Society's advantage. This is because when these JWs are confronted with the real doctrine they just come back with: "Oh thats not what we believe." Its a crazy system of mind control.
