I love acronyms. What the heck is a GUID in your field? In my field, it stands for Graphical User Interface Device(or sometimes Display).
I wonder how many duplicate acronyms there are?

recently i worked on a db file storage system that saved files under guid id's.
i became curious what the odds were of the db accidentally generating a duplicate guid for two different files, so i did the math.. here is what i found:.
number of possible 128bit guids:.

two leading oncologists both agree that my daughter bethany might be alive today if she had not been fed arsenic.
as you may recall, the wts arranged to take my sick daughter into hiding for two months and payed a doctor to prescribe arsenic.
the doctor ant the wts lawyers convinced bethany that the arsenic treatment could cure her.
"What's up now?",
What's up now is you, and your blind faith, and your willingness to belive an organization no matter what you see or hear to the contrary. I know, I was there for 30 years, just like you.
"It must be apostate lies!!!!"

an ex brother and i were talking recently and he recounted a bizarre story.
he too left the witneys some years ago, got a divorce, and the two children (both boys) decided to stay with his wife since she was still a jw.. one of his boys (never baptized a jw) confided in him not long ago about the sleeping arrangements after he left.
she told the boys that she was feeling depressed and lonely because of the divorce and turmoil that their apostate father had caused her and asked them (ages 15 and 16) to each alternate and sleep with her every other night.. it took lots of courage for this son to talk to his father about it since he wanted it off his chest.
Hi,
Sorry, but from what little you have related it just sounds sad, in the sense that she was lonely, upset, maybe even unstable at the time. Sounds to me like she just wanted one of her "boys" near. I went through a short seperation with my wife, and my boys wanted to sleep in the same bed with me after she left (10 and 12). They were just so unsettled by it, they didn't want to sleep by themselves in their own room. Nothing weird or uncomfortable ever happened, and it was only for a couple weeks, but it seemed to make them feel more secure. Perhaps that secure, safe, feeling was all she was craving.

Snickle Dippindoodle,

the subject of peak oil has been talked a couple of time here.
you'll find a lot of infos about it on google but i want to do know your opinion... will the end of cheap oil will mean the end of the world (death) for a large portion of the humanity or we will just adapt to the new reality?
personnaly, i think that we will have to live in a post-technological world if we put no more energy to find something to replace petrol.
Based on my research, the "peak oil" emergency is over hyped by a media that thrives on crises. While oil reserves are dwindling, and newer finds are smaller, there is still enough oil out there for our petrol hungry civilization to use for many decades to come. The current gas price hikes have nothing to do with crude oil supply, but with refining capacity. No one, especially the US, has built refineries in years. As Asia and China come online needing more and more post refined petrol products like gasoline and heating oil, our DEMAND for REFINED products has caught up with our REFINING CAPACITY (SUPPLY).
I believe that we have several more decades to work out alternative fuels and energy technologies before any oil "emergency" really hits us. Granted, US gasoline prices may never get back down to $1.25 or so, but we are a LONG way from running out of crude oil.

oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,.
what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?.
whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight;.
The actions and the agents can not be separated
I totally agree, that is why I proudly (oops, now I'm gonna get it for using the "p" word) display the "support our trroops" ribbon on my truck. I support both. Granted, I don't agree with all of the tactical decisions made in the "war on terror" so far, but the basic concept of "fight them on their turf" I agree with.
Terrorism has got to go. It's as simple as that. I don't think anyone would disagree with that, we all just seem to disagree about how to best get there. But terrorists, and states that support terrorism, need to be eliminated.
Oh, and by the way, I'm proud to be an American. No, I didn't actively choose to be born here, but now that I am free from the BORG I am becoming more active in my local community and in regional and national issues. I am proud to be able to get involved, and that I have the OPPORTUNITY to get involved.
What makes America such a great place (and by this I'm NOT saying America is better than every other country, so please don't go there) is NOT what she WAS, or currently IS, but what she aspires TO BE. Always better, more free, more successful, more open, more active in making the world a better place for everybody. Are we perfect at it? No. Do some of our politicians, just like politicians everywhere else, get sidetracked from focusing on "the greater good" from time to time and make bad decisions? Yes. But its the effort, from most of the politicians down to the "average joe" in the small town, to make a better life for themselves, their families, and their neighbors.

i have toyed around with the idea of finding fellow df'd ones for about a year now.
i recently got married, and of course it has made me look at how it feels like i gave up one life for another.
the only member of my family who is a jw is my mother- and it kills me that we pretty much no longer have a relationship.
Welcome to the forum!!! There are many here who can empathize with your situation, they've "been there, done that".
Look forward to seeing you around on the forum!
