Pepperheart, yes, take the books and rags but do not dispose of them. Keep them or send them to an anti jw organization/ministry, etc... some jw's do not believe previous teachings and need to see the actual books & mags and even then they sometimes think some apostate made the offending old light rag just to trick them, real story, not for today though.

Shunning: Extreme apathy!
by StephaneLaliberte ini thought i'd share this one with the group.
many years ago, my mom was disfellowshipped.
then, my sister passed away in a car accident, she was fairly young, as she was in her early 20s.

"are told they will witness with a conversation"- how damn stupid is that?! They have to be told to have an actual conversation with people? wow! who knew?
Now, how many jw's can actually have a real conversation with people? Meaning, will they stop to listen to what the door has to say rather than have a ready stock answer from their clam meeting? How can they have real conversations when they are not allowed to look at opposing information? they are uninformed about all the sexual abuse cases, etc...etc...

Update on the $4000 day fine - Padron v Watchtower
by berrygerry infrom reddit:.
this was an oral argument to dismiss the $4000/day fine.
both sides presented their arguments and now the judges will write an opinion (30 to 90 days).

Who has a harder time leaving JW's - Born Ins or those who converted?
by HeyLittleGirl inmy freind (who is also out) and i were talking about this the other night.
i was a born-in, 3rd generation jw and she converted when she was in her late 20's.. when she left, she said that she knew the world wasn't as bad as she was told as a jw, so she knew she would be fine.
also, she still had lots of "worldly" family who welcomed her back with open arms.. it was harder for me - i had nobody in the "world", no family or freinds.

Tough call. Born in's will lose so much more than a convert (family, friends & possibly employment, etc..). As the above poster mentioned adapting to the outside world would be much harder for a born in.
On the other hand, the convert who has been annoying family & friends the whole while will have to eat some serious crow in their minds. You know how hard a newbie jw tries to convert family & friends with the 'truth'! Most of us non jw's would not even bring it up and be overjoyed if our loved ones left the cult. Heck, my family gets excited when my jw skips out of fs or meeting on the rare occasion. Naturally we say nothing if he skips out, we just act as if it is any other day. You can't imagine the elation if he actually left.

Dear Akid,
I worry about you. You should be out having fun being a kid not having to worry about all this jw crap.
Wishing you the best.

Who is the "faithful and discreet slave"? & JW class system
by Counter-Watchtower inive asked my jw friends that 3 times and never got an answer.. and can someone explain the jw class system?

My jw always has said they don't have a class system. They are all the same blah, blah ,blah...... and in other news I have bridge to sell you.....
Someone had a really good chart comparing jw's to Catholic hierarchy, I forget where.
In my mind the hierarchy of jw's goes something like this-
jah (or so they say)
gb
Jesus comes in a good second I guess with the gb
co's or whatever they are called now
elders
pioneers
rank & file unless you are female then you would be next to last
male children
female
female children

Can Today's JW Logically Explain Their Beliefs?
by minimus inwhen i was a jw, i relished explaining my beliefs and why we had the truth!
lol.
todays witness has no clue , in my opinion..

Did you mean can they explain their beliefs this week? At one time it would depend on the next issue of the wt, now with only a few coming out a year perhaps it will be easier if the darn doors would just stay on the jw scripted topic!

Does JW Org Have Goons Like Scientology?
by Counter-Watchtower ini guess this would be a good question to ask.
does jw org have goons they send after ppl to threaten them?
or to inflict violence on?

Aren't the elders who stalk people "goons"? Same difference to me.
A number of stories come to mind, like when an elder puts his foot in the door of someone who is trying to fade and he bullies his way in, I remember one story of a lady who came out of her shower in a towel on the upper floor to find 2 elders in her foyer wanting to talk to her right then and there (that was the gist of the story), then there is the poster here (I apologize for forgetting his name at the moment) who joined the military but the elders were tracking down people who knew him (non jw's) to find out where he was and he finally had to send a pic of himself in his uniform before the elders would quit harassing his friends. The stories are endless.
Are the elders just as goon like as the Scientologists? I would say so, they may not be physically violent but the power they hold over the mental/spiritual well being of a jw is the same. Not to mention holding all friends and family hostage if one changes their beliefs.
I had a number of jw women who wouldn't leave me alone years ago. My threats (to my jw) of showing up at the kh and informing the whole damn cong (in my own special way) didn't even stop them. What finally stopped them? A letter to NY that finally made it down the pipeline to the local elders who had to tell the women my house was a do not call. Now why should I have had to go through all that? I would thought the first time I told them to piss off (in more or less words) they would have gotten the hint. Hell no, even the r & f are sometimes "goons".
I won't even go on about the times my own jw acted "goon" like to friends and family. Maybe they need a 'No, means NO' wt rag to come out? They are like sophomoric boys who think no means yes or maybe. But then we are talking about the wt and we know how they like to redefine words.

blood
by Akid48 inmy family hasnt signed the blood paper but still say no blood (well the adults do).i overheard a elder taking to my aunt about the blood papaers she needs to fill out.but he also aid she needs a make a small little letter saying i wont take blood.some times i wish i never heard that talk.. even tho i knew i would have to stand up for me being hable to have life.now i just zone out and think will i die for something thats a lie?.
im going to try not to think about it for a little my head hurts after this..

If you ever have to see a dr for any reason tell them in private that you will accept blood and to put that in your file. I am assuming your mom & dad will allow you in dr visit by yourself at your age? Tell them (dr or nurse) quickly about the cult and that you don't agree and to not mention it to your parents but you want that information in your files. If the worst case scenario happened the hospital would fight for you.
Do you have non jw relatives you could tell as well? a trusted adult at school?
