  Speculation on future donation arrangements

  in the aftermath of this year's annual meeting and the recent tremors of cash shortfalls within the organization, i began thinking "what could they do next to bring in more $$$.".

  many here have speculated that we're seeing incremental moves toward "tithing" (of course they would never call it that).

  a recent thread (can't find it right now) highlighted that they recently raised the "suggested per publisher donation" at the circuit assembly significantly (tripled it?)..

  The Witnesses Are Really Trying Hard To Get Me Back In

  at my mom's bed side all i see is either jw family or friends making a concerted effort to have me return to their fold.

  evidentlyy, my mom has encouraged this and i'm a trapped prisoner, as they do their best to have me come back.

  it's bad enough that i have to endure my mom's dying, now i have to be bombarded with this bs..

  Printing Company to Video Production Company - Insider Information

  many people think that wt is a publishing company and at one time that was true.

  however, they are slowly fading that out into more digital publications.

  we all have come to the conclusion that printed material from the wt is going way of the dinosaur.

  My jw used to feel very strongly about televangelism, how will the r & f justify this in their heads? to me it is no different. Am I way off here? won't some of the older jw's also see it as move towards televangelism?

  Assembly next weekend

  so we have another assembly upon us next week and everyone is excited because.... it means no thursday meeting and no sunday meeting either.

  i have to say it intrigues me how happy very dedicated witness's are about the week of freedom.

  i jokingly said.... shouldn't we all be sad their is no meeting.. and the reply was "we should be but it's great isn't it!

  What is the reason they don't have regular meetings when an assembly is coming up? Not that I mind, just wondering. I would think keeping the midweek & Sun meeting plus the 3 days of mind numbing dribble would make them extra dubby for quite some time.

  My Mom Is Dying

  i just wanted to say that my dear 89 year old mom is terminally ill and will soon pass.

  she is on morphine and hanging on.

  she has been a devout witness for about 60 years and a wonderful mother.

  A funny little diplomatic cable regarding the Malawi atrocities against JW's in 1975

  i just texted a very good remote worker friend, said i heard that there is a reduction in force coming at bethel and i hoped he wouldn't be affected.

  he said its true, its not a rumor.

  Is the letter real? What does it mean for weekday meetings? they are just changing the format? sorry to be dense.....

  "Our Christian Life and Ministry Meeting: Beginning the week of January 4, 2016, congregations will have a new midweek meeting called Our Christian Life and Ministry. This one meeting will replace the three separate meetings currently being held, namely, the Congregation Bible Study, the Theocratic Ministry School, and the Service Meeting."

  You mean the midweek meeting actually counts as 3 meetings? aagh! I am all messed up! someone refresh my memory, thanks much. (Sunday still counts as 2 meetings right?) why does this even matter? you go to the kh for say 2 hours, normal people would count it as 1 meeting but then we count generations differently too.
