Speculation on future donation arrangements

In the aftermath of this year's Annual Meeting and the recent tremors of cash shortfalls within the organization, I began thinking "what could they do next to bring in more $$$."

Many here have speculated that we're seeing incremental moves toward "tithing" (of course they would never call it that). A recent thread (can't find it right now) highlighted that they recently raised the "suggested per publisher donation" at the Circuit Assembly significantly (tripled it?).

I can imagine them deciding that the same "per publisher 'suggested' donation" be applied at the congregation level in the future. The branch would determine what the figure is, write a letter to all congregations and direct the local elders to re-visit their current monthly commitment in light of this new per publisher donation and recommend a new monthly commitment for the congregation (only to those low-contributing congs, of course!).

Then, the local elders could make those dire sounding "deficit" announcements at the local level that we're all so used to hearing at the Circuit Assembly!

Not true "tithing" but still where HQ is dictating specifically how much each congregation needs to pay up.

That would be hard since so many dubs are financially strapped. It would also be hard for those with unbelieving mates since it's usually the unbeliever who makes most of the money.

Of course, that wouldn't stop the WTS from guilting everyone into donating their lunch, dinner and coffee break money.

I can see it now, a short video at the new meeting showing a family discussing having Chipotle for dinner and then the young kids says no mommy and daddy give it to Jehovah and let's eat peanut butter and jelly for dinner. - narrator - Are you giving Jehovah your very best.

You're so right Petraglyph, but ice cream money is small potatoes when compared to chipotle! Anything they can do to create panic and a false sense of impending doom. Only we will be saved.

    Shhhhhhhhh! You're giving them ideas!

This would work except the Congs that are sending in more than the recommended amount would soon hear through the gossip mill that $xx.xx per pub is the suggested amount and would eventually cut their donations.

WT is better just continuing to guilt trip them. It seems to have always worked for the COs expenses, CirAss expenses, etc

They can't squeeze blood out of a stone. They pulled off the biggest money grab with their monthly "pledged donation"/ NOT tithe/scam. That can't be repeated, not without going full cult/1975/sell your property/mode.

What they can do, is continue the begging and get what they can while going 99% paperless. They can merge congregations where possible, because there are only two meetings a week. 3 or 4 congregations could suck it up and share one building.

Then they can start buying more buildings, even residential properties for "Regional Translation Centers." Thats where the money is, real estate. The WTBTS can buy anything and convince the R&F that it's Jeehoober's idea!

Just think of the divine wisdom required to buy residential properties in promising areas. If the GT comes, no one would suspect that residential properties are centers for true worship!! Then a few decades later..... CHA-CHING!!!!! $$$$$!!!!!!!
