  Living A Lie

  i am sick of living a lie, yet afraid to change it.

  married to a man who refuses to listen, who would rather plug his ears and shout "nooooooo" is taking it's tole.

  i am afraid to speak my mind about my doubt, my thoughts, and what i'm learning, as i'm not ready to cross that point of no return.

  Sorry to see your angst, but in chaos theory, a system has to go into a period of apparent dissorganization before a new pardigm is formed. You are entering the chaos zone, hang on!! There's plenty of us here to offer encouragement and nickel advice! I was thinking about how many times the Watchtower admonishes others to examine their beliefs and see if they are really bible based. Why not put a few quotes of this kind on your refrig door and when your husband goes for a snack, he will have to see that his own beliefs force him to "examine if it is true". I think it was the apostle Paul (not that I like the guy) that said we must examine ALL things to see if they are true.

  Next, with this as a back drop start compiling a list of past pronouncements from the WT and Awk for instance how many times they changed their minds on whether or not the inhabitants of Sodom and Gommorah will be resurected. At least six flip flops. Do the 1914 jig, the 1975 waltz, and of course the latest one assuring that "these matters will surely be consumated by the end of this century" tango.

  God, I wish I was in your shoes to do it all over again knowing what I know now. When I left I was as scared and uncertain as a baby fawn newly orphaned.

  Be assured, there is/are other answers to the questions in life.

  need help re 607 date

  i am new to this.. i have a problem.

  someone on my ministry asked me about the date that we hold so dear....607 bce and asked me to prove it to them.

  this would not be a problem i thought as the f&ds would have solid basis for using such a date.

  I left the "mothership" over forty years ago and only returned to the KH for my brother's and father's funerals. Both were typical attempts to "witness" to a captive audience re: the bizzare beliefs of the JWs rather than pay tribute to the departed. For fifteen year I searched christianity for a belief system that made sense and fit with scientific reality to no avail. Since then I have found a belief system that is inclusive, rational yet acknowledges the essential mystical nature of the unknown.

  You're free to e-mail me and discuss it privately. I personally don't discuss it publically as the intent of this board is to "not stumble your brothers" which I take to mean, don't proseltyze.

  hey all, hope you're having a great year so far.. before witnet was closed down, there was an interesting discussion regarding the fds and their failed prophecies.

  i asked a question, but unfortunately there wasn't enought time to get everyone's view.. so i'll rephrase my posts, and wait to hear from y'all.. if we are so quick to say that the fds is a false prophet because of some failed prophecies (even tho they say they don't prophecy, we all know better) then how would you explain the bible book of jonah?.

  a faithful prophet, jonah, followed (after much trial and tribulation to himself) jehovah's command to declare destruction on the city of nineveh.

  I've always thought it a tad bit egotistical to think God would bother with me as an individual. Lots more important things to deal with like keeping the planets circling around their respective suns, orchestrating the creation of galaxies and solar systems, making dna self-replicating (well with a little help from rna) and cool stuff like that. Me, heck, I though I was supposed to be on Her side rather than the other way around..

  living in this postage stamp of a country called israel (actually palistan) it amuses me that my fellow contrymen jews and arabs are at each others thoats when both the bible and the koran prophecy that the jews will "return" to this piece of barren desert at the "time of the end".

  anyone ever wonder for what reason?

  if it's in the koran that the jews will be brought back by the will of god then why are they contesting their presence here?

Anyone ever wonder for what reason? If it's in the Koran that the Jews will be brought back by the will of God then why are they contesting their presence here? King Feisel (sp?) wrote a letter in the early forties in which he welcomed the Jews of the diaspora back to their ancient land quoting the Koranic prophecy and alluding to the final consumation of peace among the "people of the book" meaning the Jews, Chistians and Muslims.

  How is it that our friend Mr. Arafat can claim that the Jews never occupied Palistine when his own holy book proclaims their "return"?

  Finally, for what purpose are the Jews to re-occupy this neck of the woods?
