  What is a right?

  i've been looking at the "health care" thread here and there and, although i did not reply (it's one of the issues where most americans and europeans seem to be really really far apart) i felt like asking a distinct yet related question which probably best suits another thread.. so, what is a "right"?.

  are "human rights" written somewhere, in heaven or in nature, other than in human laws / customs which are the provisional, ever-changing result of power struggle and negotiation, in an equally ever-changing economical-social conjuncture?.

  and then what is the point of discussing "rights," if they are not grounded anywhere else than in the socio-political arena itself?

  Hello all,

  In the united states, you use to have consitutional rights, they were called unailenable rights (God given rights)
  then we got the 14th ammendment, which turn us into a new class of citizens, and the rights we were given are called civil rights ( rights conferred by the government)
  and now we have what's called public policy, which takes away your consitutional rights (unailenable God given rights)

  What ever rights you think you are entitled to can change at any time, depending on what public policy is at that time.(Patriot Act)

  If you think you have a right, I say test it out, and see what happens.

  Many of the rights we use to have, are now against the law.

  In the US alone, over a 1000 laws are enacted every year, we must be really bad people. or the government really wants to control us.

  Anyway that's my take on things.

  Who was Jesus really?

  Well, I would do research first on who the Nazarenes were, and that might be a starting point as to who Jesus really was.

  All verses are from NIV

  Mark 14:67
  When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him. "You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus," she said.

  Mark 16:6
  "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

  Acts 24:5
  "We have found this man to be a troublemaker, stirring up riots among the Jews all over the world. He is a ringleader of the Nazarene sect

  Matthew 2:23
  and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene."
  (Note: the town/city "Nazareth" didn't come into being until about 300 hundred years after Jesus, but there was a Nazarene community)

  When you do the research on the "Nazarene's it should give you some clues about Jesus life and true teachings.

  Who should we render gratitude to?

  I told him that Jesus is God, the Father is God and the Holy Spirit is God.

  John 17:21 21 That they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me.(amp)

  John 17:20-23 (New Living Translation) 20 "I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me because of their testimony. 21 My prayer for all of them is that they will be one, just as you and I are one, Father--that just as you are in me and I am in you, so they will be in us, and the world will believe you sent me. .

  Well, that must mean that were all God too, part of the trinity. interesting. So just let me say your welcome! LOL

  Overall attitude, good, no ill will toward the WTS, left org because, after doing research on the Nazarenes Essenes, which Jesus was a member of the Nazarene Essene community around Mt. Carmel in No. Israel.

  What my reseach has shown me is that Jesus taught a Way differant than what the Roman/Pauline bible teaches, there are some clues , not many, so I left the org and continued my journey for truth.

  One clue most people miss is that Jesus taught, if you don't find the Kingdom before you die you wont find it after.(hint: narrow path)

  I've been married 25 years, not always easy, and sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side,

  I use a variety of differant text when doing research, the Nazarene scriptures being prominant, don't use Romanized/Pauline ones too much.

  have you noticed that when jesus christ, the son of god, the lord of lords, said something in the bible that the watchtower society disagrees with, the society will either (1) ignore it almost completely or (2) talk about that scripture, but then, they will twist it around to mean the exact opposite of what he plainly said?.

  a good example of this is the insight book (volume 2), page 1,083 ("temple"):on one occasion, when the jews demanded a sign from jesus, he replied: "break down this temple, and in three days i will raise it up.

  " the jews thought he was speaking of the temple building, but the apostle john explains: "he was talking about the temple of his body.

  An interesting historical fact is that the town of Nazareth didn't exist until 200 to 300 hundred years later, there was a community of Nazarenian essenes though.

  So if Jesus was a Nazarene as the bible points out, then it might do us well to learn what the nazarenes believed and taught, and see if it is in harmony with the bible. Which you'll find it is not.

  The bible is milk, don't get caught up in the words, remember it's the spirit behind the words that are important.
  (Jesus spoke in parables, remember?)

  i was talking to a friend the other day and he brought up something i hadn't thought about before.

  he said that suppose the entire world was wiped out except for say 100 people.

  humans have made huge advances being industrialized, but in this scenario, things as they are now could not be maintained.
